LOL....Yeah go paddle out on a bodyboard at teahpoo, jaws, pipe, or ocean beach san fran when it's pumping out and let me know how "nothing can go wrong". We both know you've never been in waves like that. You need BETTER paddling skills on a bodyboard than a surfboard. Their harder to paddle due to drag.

Try doing any type of performance riding on a 5 dollar board and let me know how you make out. You're so unbelievably ignorant it's absurd.

I'll preface this by saying 'I like surfing better'. A lot better. That said, body boarding is fun. I get what someone said about feeling the wave. Your body can feel the energy happening around it, which doesn't happen anywhere else I've ever been. Usually if it's moderate shore pound, or a super crowded small day, I'll bust out the sponge. I've never once not enjoyed it. But surfing is better.

Isn't he the dude that only rides 4-5 times a year? Last I read it didn't seem as though he enjoyed where he lived on account of colder water and working too much too travel to the holy land of cali-forn-ia (where everything is better).

If you disregard the sensitive types, this thread is pure gold.

I've never surfed a wave at all.
I've bodyboarded plenty of waves. Not sure what you define as "wave of consquence". I ride for fun/adrenaline rush. I don't gauge quality of my sessions by injury count. I'm not a moron, unlike some.

You can get hurt surfing in knee high slop due to getting cut with a fin. So maybe that makes it more "core" for you. lol

Have you surfed the jaws, the north shore when it's really pumping? Apparently, nothing can go wrong as long you're on a bodyboard.

Again with the ego bull****. You're so core dude. This wasn't about me. It was about bodyboarding in general anyway. Nice deflection though.

"Bodyboarding is to surfing is what rollerblading is to skateboarding." Crap talk aside - Paul Roach NEVER put his peeps in the water! With that said - I have a new 44"-Roach on the way and I haven't sponged in a very long time. It's mainly for blackball use but I miss DK and some standups with fins on my feet. It's so ugly yet so fun. I tried the alia boards and a boogie just feels better (and lighter!)

in most cases, bodyboarding is more like masturbating while surfing is like actually having sex. sure, masturbating is fun, but sex is always better.

& the people who are throwing up ridiculous non-wave waves as examples of gnarly bodyboarders are, let's be honest. most of you wouldn't want a part of any of those waves any more than any of the surfers on here would, myself included. i'm not ashamed to admit that the days of me being interested in dropping into 12ft chopes are behind me. but how many bodyboarders on here can honestly say that they'd toss themselves over that ledge? not too many, i'd bet. so let's keep this conversation grounded in reality. & the reality is that bodyboarding on an average to good day at your local is less interesting & less challenging than surfing.

This is such a troll thread....I bbed for years, no it is not better....it can be a ton of fun though.

I think standing up and flying down a wave with speed amd control is more fun amd fulfilling than laying down and waiting for get pulverized because its hard to get speed on a bb.....bbing is an extension of bodysurfing.....also 90% of bbers secretly want to be surfers no matter what they say...they all say bbing is bettet and they like it better but they are lying....they just cant figure out surfing/too embarassed to learn

I'm pretty sure, what everyone is trying to say, is:
My Schlong is bigger then yours.

SteveO, especially you, and I say that as a friend for many years.

I keep trying to get my wife to pick up a boogie board, but she won't do it. I say whatever method of wave riding vehicle is cool with me as long as you are respectful like everybody else. For me as far as fun / challenging it goes like this #1 Surfing a Short board #2 Surfing a Long board #3 SUP Surfing #4 Body boarding #5 Body surfing, just my preferences, I spend nearly 99% of my time on the 1st two and not much at all on the others when I think about it.

dudes when i drag my **** i make the whole ocean a little bit wetter. i even sponge up the ocean with my big ole ****. sometimes when sponging i use it as a rudder, so it pretty much turns into a single fin boogie. one time i got smashed by a wave so hard my sponge got implanted on the bottom of the ocean.

Um....You can make a barrel and stay ahead of a wave on a bodyboard, unless you have no idea what you're doing. You don't get crushed by every wave. That's only unmakeable closeouts that would crush you on a surfboard too.

I think if someone wanted to learn to surf....then they would. Embarrased to learn? WTF?

What's so silly is how elite some of you think you are. ANYONE can learn to stand on a surfboard. It's not some amazing talent. It just takes a few sessions. Anyone can learn in one summer how to stand on a board. Let's be realistic. Most of you are not kelly slater and honestly the average surfing I see in RI is nothing to feel all elite about.

    really dude?
u paddle with ur feet, wit fins on.i used swim fins once,at a gym that let u use them for free.i think it was a 30 meter long pool.first time I ever put them on,i swam underwater for 30 meters in like 15 seconds.its incredibly easy,if I could use fins for surfing I would.getting hit in the water by a sponge rather than a surfboard,is just as it sounds,u get hit with a sponge.theres is nothing terrifying about sponging.try bodysurfing pipe or chopes,or even a 6ft day on the eastcoast.I bodysurfed longer than I surfed.

I wasn't hating on spongers anyway.i do see some amazing stuff, and try to incorperate that into my surfing, like how they fly off the lip coming out a barrel.i see better spongers in nj than surfers.but compared to surfing, its like sliding on a sponge, which infact is what sponging is all about

So making it more efficient by using fins. Doesn't that kind of make sense? It's like saying you go to your ski hill and never take the chair lift. You're too core for that
Don't people wear fins to bodysurf? lol You sound so ridiculous. Paddling a bodyboard out through the white water at huge beach break is easy? You have NO CLUE what you are talking. I wish it were easier, but it's not.

heres a prime example of why bodyboarders sometimes are better than surfers.i got lots of respect for anyone that charges regardless of craft.i was just raised to be a surfer, and surfers are rasied to hate on spongers.i don't hate them tho, they ride their boards il ride mine.i was even going to start sponging last summer when they dredged all my spots and it turned to heaving shorebreak.I prefer surfing tho

He's using a 5 dollar board from shoprite. Funny how you suddenly changed your tune. Surfers are raised to hate spongers and culture is the real reason. Thank you for being honest.

so do bodyboarders hate bodysurfers or knee boarders? All this is too confusing. Mr. Shark Hunter, could you please clarify what is going on here? I am in dire need of another one of your lengthy and one sided explanations.
