alright. im heading here in january for 3 weeks or so. ive been to other places around central america and mexico but never here. ive heard san juan del sur is a cool place to stay but every where i look online the places seem to be so expensive. ive heard of places to stay for 10 bucks a night but i cant find anywhere online. anyone ever been here if so any recommendations for any other places in nicaragua? did you just go there then find a place? thats what i do in puerto escondido but idk what this place is like. any help would be great.

Swellinfo Nicaragua forecasts will be here shortly. Generally, the biggest surf there is in the spring and summer time... but I've heard the offshore winds howl in the winter time on the south part of the country.

I just got back from San Juan del Sur in August. I enjoyed it too much!:D I stayed at Pelican Eyes in town, but it's $$$$. When I go back next August I'm gonna stay at Mango Rosa which is just North of town and less $$$$. The guy who runs Mango Rosa is an X-Pat named Chad(real cool dude) and the owner's name is Greg(cooks a serious steak...I mean serious!!). This place is the real deal, and it's completely safe! Here's their info..if you have anymore Q's let me know.

FYI...there is no middle ground in Nica..it's either nice or it's a rat trap...but you can find nice for cheap!

Best of luck to you, I hear the winds blow 50 mph offshore on a consistent basis in Jan and Feb. I met a guy who lives there, JJ the guy who owns a surf camp there, in Puerto Viejo CR and he said he basically travels down to CR when ever the winds are too hard offshore and he said it gets real bad that time of year...
