Yeah man, I read that, and I understand what they are saying. But she was a few votes away from running instead of Obama. If that were to have happened, Obama would be next in line. I mean, she did very well in her primaries from what I remember. It was a very close race between the two. So, with all of Obama's supporters falling right in line with her as the heir apparent, I can't see how anyone would de-throne her.

I have one word that will wipe away all her bad press and numbers lately: "BILL"

All her campaign needs to do is start dropping that Atom bomb and its over. Republicans, Dems, Libertarians, I think we all in one way or another like Bill Clinton and think he did a good job in office. Unless you are a hard core feminist. I think people always speculate that Clinton was one of those guys we would still vote in as president if the terms would allow it, and the thought if him riding shotgun, as the first ever "First Man"... I mean, I guess that's what they would call him, or the first husband. I just think there is too much in her favor to lose to anyone really. She is a household name. Everyone knows her. No one has anything terrible to say really. They can split hairs, but people have thrown some serious hate at Obama, I just don't think there is really ammunition against her.

your whole quote was good, but this distilled bit for 'economy of word' is the nugget of truth

and on another note, Id love to see some Southpark Hillary action, it would be awful I am sure, and since I am a bad person I would laugh, a lot...... Hilary's minge talking about missing Bill's johnson?

surfers used to be rebels because of the time period they lived in.if u weren't a rebel back then,u were the minority.nowadays rebels don't exist anymore, because we created a loose term called "terrorism" and any rebel or fighter will be mutilated, tortured, and killed, even when u have nothing to do with terrorism.questioning ur government is grounds for survelliance.

il always consider myself an outsider.i wouldn't call myself a rebel, because theres not much rebellion going on.i have a tattoo of a anarchy sign that's 20 yrs old.when I was young we did some phukd up shyt that I would condemn anyone who does shyt like that today.i prefer taking the road less traveled.im happy to not be around people.that's why I like surfing because not a lot of people surf, atleast when I started.now I see more surfers than skaters.i skated for a long time aswell, skateboards not rollerblades!!!!!

Surfing was a counter culture in its infancy in the sense that surfers were ditching the idea of the 9-5 stable, reliable job, the family, the house in the suburbs, in those days what was seen as the "american dream." Instead to go surf as much as they could, on the best waves they could, any way they could.

That was how Dora got to be known as he is. He knew what to do to get free boards, to get paychecks, to get to surf vs work. He spent time in prison for it, to say he falsified an image to sell boards is a little extreme. Did he make an image of himself, absolutely, but he lived it as well.

That is also how surfing has been so associated with drugs as well. You get a lot of easy money smuggling certain substances inside surfboards. Not to mention the "free spirit" attitude most surfers tend to take on things. You may not do drugs, but your not gonna flip your lid if your surf buddy tells you he just dropped some whatever hes takin. We tend to have a "to each their own" approach to these things, as long as its not doing physical harm to others. (other than the obvious harm from drug use).

Obviously, people get extremely worked up over politics (and religion too), yacking on and on about it to no end. An American pastime. So often, whoever happens to be President gets blamed (mostly by those who don't like him) for all that's supposedly wrong everywhere - whether it's no Santa Claus at the mall, no Salvation Army bell ringers in front of the stores, the fluctuating price of gas, stock market crashes, global warming, gang violence & increasing crime rates, too many laws, not enough laws, high insurance rates, abortions, gay marriages, declining quality of education, drug usage, increasing cost of college tuition, decreasing civility in society, domestic violence & child abuse, teen pregnancy, rising rate of child obesity, etc., etc., ad nauseam.
    Conspiracists abound.
Although I vote, I never got into nor developed a big interest in politics.

the best thing about surfing is its an individual sport, there is no team or teammates, just u in the ocean trying to have fun and survive at the same time.surfers used to be dope smoking lsd dropping hippies, now they are professional athletes which is a pro and con at the same time.i prefer the hippie way of surfing, living off the land, being an outsider in ur own little crew.pro surfers deserve more money than football and baseball players, which is why the asp is pushing their new theme, but I wouldn't want to live in a world with surf fans are morbidly obese eating chilli cheesedogs and stinking the beach up with their gastranomical odors.surfing was cooler when the mainstream didn't know about it.i love surfing, and watching pro contests and all,but I can tell ya regular people don't give a shyt about a barrel or air.if its a guy wiping out on a 40footer,then the mainstreamers watch with amazement, but regular surfing isn't something most people want to see

if you want to augment your perspective, try a surf trip to peru. in addition to smokin waves you'll likely
get your first exposure to abject poverty which tends to rattlle ones' cage a bit and in my case was instrumental in my own personal political wake-up call.

Maybe it was just that: an idea - exaggerated and promoted by media/Hollywood, such as the Spicoli or "Surfer Dude" images.
If this forum any sort of indication, surfing pulls in almost a full spectrum of people with an amalgam of varying and contrasting backgrounds and experiences, ages, education levels, occupations, current situations, beliefs, tastes, opinions, and other interests.

While in the Navy, the things I saw in Kenya and the Philippines gave me a better appreciation of what we have here. I also marvel at and greatly respect those who leave their home country for a variety of reasons, come here knowing very little English, sacrifice, work hard, and really make something of themselves.

Damn Baddy. You are pushin Peru hard. Was that really the first time you saw abject poverty? What about at home? Do you live in one of those nice double-wide trailers? The lack of infrastructure in Nicaragua was certainly humbling, but... East New York, the South Bronx, Philadelphia, parts of Appalachia, have all 'rattled my political cage' too.

Surfer as rebel... hmm. Surf-wise, I have a pittance of the historical knowledge that most of you possess. But I will say this: there's nothing good about drug addicts, or being one. I don't believe that prioritizing waves should be called 'rebellion'- though that's complicated.

I think a simple way to look at it is this: If you don't feel that there is a place for you in society, you are likely to gravitate towards 'fringe' or 'minority' activities that offer reward systems and power hierarchies that are alternative to normative undertakings such as family & 401K. This drives some people to drugs, others to art, the military, BDSM, music, skateboarding, surfing, etc...

Drugs and surfing will both put you at peace, temporarily, but drug abuse is spiritually devastating. Surfing is spiritually fulfilling.

which all this political talk ,i believe the south should succeed and and south Carolina become its only country and the head of state will be ron paul or steven cobert. i will be the minister of infrastructure and we will have many artificial reef breaks for surfers and jetties set up everywhere. we will also pump away all the off shore sand bars and dredge near shore. we will have the best surf on the coast. it we be know as super bank south carolina. no surfers will be allowed into this new country or people from new jersey. new jersey people will be put on the state departments list of terrorist groups. we welcome Maryland Delaware, and anyother person from southern states.

blasters, I'm all for secession but ya really haven't fixed any problems if you plan on funding your surf projects by stealing from some people (via taxes). You will just have imported the same flawed philosophy that drags all nations down...namely that theft is ok as long as the state does it.
