    Hey Everybody,

I am planning a trip to DR in mid to late august, Just trying to get some advice or really anything helpful to ensure I get the most bang for my buck there. It will be my girlfriend and I, so any advice on places that caters to couples would be Ideal. I am going solely to surf and shes going just to relax on beach and what not. I am an intermediate surfer who has surfed solid swells in OBX, SoCal, and Mal Pais Costa Rica. Any info, advice, tips, etc is greatly appreciated.

No one told you yet about the three thread rule? You posted this question so far in two threads but no one will answer it til you make a third one. So post up brah!

Have you searched the Forum? Answer: no. There's plenty of info on the DR in previous threads. I know it's flat lately but take a knee & do some ground work of your own, sparky.

summer anywhere in the Caribbean area is hit or miss. DR is good in winter (oct-april). north coast, in the town of cabarete is the most popular stretch but there's other lesser known breaks if you have time to look.

If you want to go in August, fly into the capital, Santo Domingo and explore the south facing coast.

Encuentro. Lot of info on it. Go DP & be done when the mid-morning trades kick in like clockwork. El Magnifico hotel in Cabarete. Maybe your gf will be up for a 3-some with any one of many, many available & smokin' hot chicas. Free if she likes what she sees; or, cost you about a bill for all night if she's strictly bid-ness.

Surfing area is Caberete-Sousua. Main surfing beach Encuentro. There is a nice hotel right in front on main road with a side road leading down to beach area. Surf around Sousua in the bay like area if the swell is big enough. Good relaxed feel in DR. Not a fancy resort area just laid back true DR experience. Locals are friendly - good vibe. Presidente beer & Brugal rum. Rideable wind swell most days but also much bigger-out of my comfort zone surf a couple days while I was there (late December). Just watch what you eat and drink.

Get out of your bedroom much? Still dreaming about the day the State Department allows felons to have passports?

"Blow up" the only surf spot on the north coast of the DR? The one that's been known for, ah, decades? The one that advertises itself far & wide as the reason to come to Cabarete (along with kiting)? The one with, like, a gazillion pics posted online? That surf spot, sparky....?

Don't reach for the Beretta, but I'm going to post a ton of info about a spot named Pipeline next, ok...?

Did your parents drop you on your juvenile head, repeatedly? Or did you just become a doofus in your teenage years?
