you can easily start a different thread, man. no one is stopping you. but you've taken a thread full of positivity & good vibes a shat all over it like a damn pigeon.
Oh you are serious? Isn't it nice to speak freely to people you don't know? Who fights for your right to freely speak of something you know nothing of?Can you answer my question, "do you call your family members murderers for hire?" My stance is against the offensive tone of what you were saying, not the ideology. I remember my first beer.
so, mattyb, content is correct, but tone isnt? you are picking a fight (its what you were trained to do). Considering the uncles who fought in ww2 are gone its kinda hard. Granted Nazis were 'bad guys' and I'm stoked to be speaking English as opposed to German or Japanese, but why dont you look a little more closely into the history of war and how the rich and powerful have aims and use the little guy for slaughter to achieve them. they would be incapable of this if you made moral decision to NOT kill people and I do know that killing people for money is wrong, dont need the details that you have if you cant sleep at night you have yourself to blame (the irony is crazy considering its 4am here) I have discussed this with my cousin, a former marine and he agrees. trained killers are murderers, and since he got paid to do it, that's where the for hire part (obviously) comes in Anonymous discussion is healthy, anonymous pamphlets spread ideas before the internet, look up Thomas Pain common sense and nj42, you are correct, I will bow out. I have said my piece
Wow mis13 your a tard, there's lines that people shouldn't cross. But now we all know you have no sack. I bet your parents are some hippy ass protesters that are vegans. You call that man a murder and i wouldn't let him bet you, i would.
People have a choice to join the military, just as people have a choice to follow alternative paths. Some people chose to fight battles with words, some with violence. Some people chose to body board, some people choose to stand up. Some people chose to lead a life of sobriety, some a life suppressing addiction. Some people chose to be conservative, others liberal Some people chose to live in warm climates, others chose cold climates The point is as long as the human species has the ability to think, we will continue to make choices that we feel are best for us. Arguing why your choice is better than someone else's will continue to be a natural occurrence, leading to nothing but unhappiness and anger. Its a cyclical process, and those who get stuck spinning are choosing to do so, making each and every argument irrelevant for any progression.
MIS, I am not the one picking a fight, im simply trying to see your perspective. I wasn't saying "would you say that to me in person" or to your family members to act tough, but to find out if you would speak with conviction and sincerity in person. I usually stay away from posts like yours but I was hoping to dissuade you from making broad generalizations that could hurt the people that only try and protect your rights and freedoms. I wish you the best and support your right to think, speak, and act in any manner you choose...as long as it doesn't hurt anybody.
There was a Wounded Warrior surfing event at the VB Oceanfront last year. Was anyone here involved in that and/or know if there is one planned this year in VB? Below is link to find athletic and community events organized by WW supporters in your state. I was looking under VA, but could not find anything for surfing. http://www.proudsupporterwwp.org/misc/proud-supporter-events.aspx
Way to spread some positivity among people who have experienced negativity trying to protect our freedoms. Our military veterans deserve compassion, and they have bravely earned it. War is ugly. I'm sure most veterans didn't join the service under the pretense of wanting to kill people. I believe it's more about them wanting to help people. Sh!t rolls downhill, and once there in, they are just following orders. I visualize our government as the disingenuous gun wielders and our veterans as the bullets doing what they were designed to do. It's not fair to assimilate our governments screwed up agendas, with our veterans reasoning behind joining the service MIS.
ignorance at best right here. we joined to serve and protect our way of life. we were ordered to war, but made bonds with our brothers where we wouldn't let them walk through the valley of the shadow of death alone. you clearly wouldn't understand that bond. be happy that young men with courage VOLUNTEER to protect your right to call us 'murderers'.
I am actually sorry for posting this thread...I was trying to promote being a volunteer and giving of your self to help others. It doesn't matter whether it is Wounded Warrior Project, Life Rolls On, Surfers Healing, Habitat for Humanity, or the local ones to Wilmington like Coastal Horizons Rape Crisis Center, Hope for Helen etc... Its good for your soul. I am sure however this opinion will be shat all over and turned into a debate against socialism. Either way, I hope it stoked a couple of you and here is a pic of my new hero.
don't be sorry. some of the best moments i've had in over 20 years of surfing was volunteering w/ LRO. never had a chance to work w/ WWP, but i'd jump at the opportunity in a heartbeat if it came along. you should be stoked. i'm stoked FOR you...forget the people who can't see a good karma/stoke thread even when it smacks them in the face. good on ya!
Blackfish, you helped spread happiness. Period. I've learned that I can't rationalize with irrational people-but I feel a painful need to try. I should have stayed away, but I simply couldn't.
I knew a few guys that were in the WWP out in San Diego. One of the guy's wives was my wife's best friend. These guys were amazing. The Golf Community did a ton of work with them. I went golfing my my buddy from the project, who lost his right leg in Afghanistan. This guy SMOKED me on the golf course with only one leg... But they were definitely deserving of support and compassion. These guys had such a positive outlook, even after being maimed at war. It makes you wonder how you yourself would tackle life if things took such a drastic change. And as for all the other crap in this thread, none of us would be having this conversation PERIOD without our troops. Like someone else said, we would be speaking German, making far less decisions in our lives because no one fought for our freedom and protected out people... Without the military, we would be nothing. We would not exist. Luckily, we live in a society with enough brave young men and women that are willing to risk their lives, just like the police as well, to protect our citizens.... Cause without them, we would have a draft system in this country... Makes you wonder what an "anti" military individual would have done if their name card got pulled in the draft. Would you rot in prison? Would you run off to Canada? Or would you fight to protect your family, you life and you country? I mean, we are wrong for intervening into situations, where MILLIONS of people are being murdered. Entire families and cultures being wipes out... And you want to look the other way?
I am just trying to follow this logic? So, with that rationale, Police are hired murderers? Secret Service are hired murdered. Security guards are hired murdered. Troops are murderers... So, in your world, there are no guns, no protection... There is a word for that: Anarchy. So when the bank robbers have 30 people help hostage with explosives and machine guns, we are supposed to keep ordering them pizzas and begging them to stop the violence without using any force?
Ahhh so this is where it all started....lent an extra pair of fins I had to a Wounded Warrior trying to sponge w/out any last summer, we surfed together for a few hours, cool dude and he was pumped on the fins. Damn shame how some of these vets are getting F'd by Uncle Sam when they get home.
