How about that gopro pic from Rockaway...I don't have the time to search but I know some of you guys must've seen it...last summer/early fall mature Cracker lurking right by this guy's legs, i don't know why the camera went off but it's right there.
I'm sure if we average a few fatalities in a few years in RI your viewpoint would quickly change. Shark conservationists have an agenda and it's not keeping people safe in the water. The real hardcore one's don't even want people in the ocean at all. Read the comments section when a culling is mentioned. It always goes to the same crap. Million to one lightning stike bull**** statistic that is completely meaningless for reason I've stated previously. We do what we can do keep people safe. It a few lives can be saved by culling some sharks then I'm for it. I'm the first to admit when a wildlife population is threatened. Beavers in the 1800's for example. Bison as well. Sharks are a healthy fish game species. There's plenty of them. Shark lovers don't want to see them "murdered". That's all it's about.
Decent argument for SUPs. Hahaha. Honestly, what the hell can you do?
Yes, but that's the last thing the shark apologists want people to know. They'll always be threatened as far as their concerned.
Especially being a bodyboarder seldom. We are REALLY at risk due to smaller board size. We are shark bait on that thing.. Studies have shown longboarders have less likelihood of being attacked than people on a short board. Shark takes a look how big you are before deciding if he wants to make a go at you. Bodyboard is SMALL. Small seal size for sure. Look how FEW bodyboarders there are yet look at the fatal attacks in CA and Australia and how often it's a bodyboarder.
Bodyboarder = seal Short board = Maybe that's a seal, I'll bump and nibble just to make sure, nah too boney that's a dude. Long board = oh wtf is that, shark buddy check that thing out, f*** that s***.
Oh and bodyboarders usually lose their leg in an attack vs an arm injury for surfers. Dying of blood loss is a great concern(femoral artery) when you lose the leg. They usually bleed to death on the beach. HORRIFIC way to go and a lot of these can be prevented if we take reasonable action.
True dat....until you get a massive 20 footer that eats other sharks(they do cannibalize each other). But yeah bigger board = less risk for sure.
Having grown up in the red triangle of california ive heard my fair share of shark stories. And in all honesty i'd rather be swimming in a healthy ocean full of sharks then deal with sharkfluffer's ridiculous claims and theories and just overall mentality on life in general. He has no clue as to the natural order of the world and is the reason it's in the depleted and dire state that it is in.
Yep I'm responsible for the world's problems. Trying to hijack another thread with personal attacks? Should we not fish for tuna then? That's not the "natural order" Hell we don't even belong in the ocean naturally. Your logic falls apart pretty quick
Leash 3 inches above wound, tied as tight as humanly possible. Find another leash, do the same thing. Forget infection concerns, you're f***ed if someone doesn't find the exposed artery. Pinch, elevate leg above shoulder level. It's a long shot if it's femoral. Any artery is a serious danger, popliteal artery is just as likely to take you out in under 5 mins. Find that sucker, pinch it if you can (I don't mean now). They are going to be EASY to find....think water bubbler, with a pulse.
Comletely agree with the following amendment: in the summer/fall, and concentrated around the cape. Where do they come from? Where do they end up after they bail? Where are their breeding grounds? How does this population interact with others and how does that contribute to the genetic well-being of the global population? Look at the whale and shark breeding grounds off Baja, where mexican fisherman are finning juvenile whites, it doesn't look good. We have a situation in northern New England where sharks are responding to an increased food supply, and until there are attacks, and until we know more about the species, there's really no need to do anything but learn more about them. Not so sure my viewpoint would change man. If it freaked me out that much, I'd have to find something else to do with my time I guess, or I'd just live with it, idk. Isn't that part of the reason we're out there? The fear you get when an outside set approaches on a day that's just beyond your comfort zone? Those pics look crazy, but that's a common annual occurrence down there...but how can you be so sure that shark populations are fine? How do you know absolutely that they are a 'healthy game species'? Not by a couple pics of schooling reef sharks, and not just because they show up near your boat when you chum the water. The problem with American History, or western Civilization for that matter, is that we barely recognize a problem until it's too late. You were talking about deer recently, well, if we didn't f**k up the predator populations here generations ago there wouldn't be starving deer and towns wouldn't have to have mass deer hunts to cull the herd. And honestly, the way you refer to 'shark lovers' and the rest sounds very similar to the way wolf hunters refer to us who advocate for their survival, so I question where you get your idea that all is well in the natural world of sharks.
One thing we gotta face fellers, we're all gonna go someday, either in a sharks mouth, a convalescent home, a car accident, a terminal illness, a bullet, a stroke, heart attack...f**k, one thing we should really cull, drunk drivers. How many kids or parents have been killed minding their own business by a drunk driver? And we're talking truly minding their own business, not exposing themselves to predators. I don't know about blood alcohol levels, but if you're driving at a 6 beer buzz, culled.
Big difference between being "afaid" of an outside set and a shark tearing you in half. It's not even comparable. I'm not worried about losing my life when I go play in the ocean. Let's get real. We are playing. This is for fun. You'd rather find something else to do and give up your hobby instead of fishing for a few sharks? Ok. Should we stop tuna fishing? They're probably more at risk due to overfishing than sharks. 100% You don't NEED mass deer hunts. You could easily tag and spay the deer. Mass hunts are for people's enjoyment. You seem obsessed with wolves as if they're more important than other species. Are you against bear hunting? Black bears are super healthy population and are hunted like crazy in states like PA and Maine. Should the bear hunters be given the death penalty? What if all animals made a natural comeback and the "balance" was restored. Should deer hunters be burned alive? Hunting black bears has no real effect. The planet isn't going fall apart because of it. I have HUMANE concerns with any type of hunting, but people's safety come first. You seem to be concerned about people interfering with the brutal thing that is nature. You realize wolves/predators starve to death all the time before people ever came around? That's the true nature of "balance". Predator/prey populations swing violently and animals on both sides die miserably. Wolves fight for territory and kill each other. They kill their own pack member if it becomes injured. They're not lassie. They're brutal predators. They kill for fun. They'd likely kill your dog if they saw him. This is brutal and all part of nature. Nature sucks bro.
Well how long has there been a ban on hunting great whites? Im guessing at least 20 years, right? maybe more? that's plenty time for whatever the number was to have several generations of off spring. The truth is we didn't know what their numbers were before and we certainly can guess that the numbers of great whites (and all other sharks) are greater now.
Drunk drivers are humans. You are seriously disturbed that you can't see the difference between a human and an animal. That's why I wouldn't meet you. Seriously dude. That's scary mentality you have. Your lack of caring about human life and insane rants about shooting wolf hunters is a little off. We have laws against drunk driving. We do what we can. Fishing for a few sharks is reasonable to save a few lives. yeah I'd rather die at 80 after a long life than die at 19 from a shark like that guy recently last year in CA. But call me crazy.
You do realize some of the stuff you've posted is borderline criminal threats right? Talking about wanting to kill people who LEGALLY hunt a wolf.
