now that can be called a man cave. I'd much rather chill and drink a beer in there than in your boy cave.
Yeah, It's a mess in here, but we have like 3 builds going on and sh** everywhere. If I took a picture of our loading dock, you would be like, WTF????? It s cluster fu**, but the end result is always some really impressive work. The team here is some of the best I have ever worked with.... Lots of talent. Don't know how I ended up in this business, but it's interesting if nothing else. We just got done installing a fake rain forest inside of the University of Tennessee last week. I will be damned if it didn't all look real as hell. They dropped 6 figures on it, so it better be legit i guess. 15,000 kids had the time of their life in it.
My Pa didn't teach me aboot wood-working, metal-working, or stuff like that. So my man cave was used for scientific purposes. I can't post pics due to lighting, so I'll post a pic of the yurt in my backyard. Zach you're a boat builder too?
No, its just a prop. We build a LOT of movie props. So, it won't be seaworthy. It is just the deck and mast of the Black Pearl. There will be a fake johnny depp wax statue in it. Its a photo op. Here is a full ship prop we built and installed up in Charleston. And no, that is NOT me in the photo, its an actor... haha
Basically. We build real stuff too. We have like 10 smaller companies that we incorporate and we all kinds of sh**. We do graphic and web-design, sandblasting. We build furniture too. But there is a lot of money is in the movie props and staging stuff. We built a 60 foot tall fake tree for a movie and make almost 6 figures in profit for it. You would be amazed at what the hollywood budgets are. Its absolutely nuts. But hey, if a company in Puerto Rico wants us to build the world's largest fake wave for them, we will do it. You should have heard me on the conference call trying to explain to the designer that he had the wave backwards. There is supposed to be a dolphin riding in the tube of this huge wave... The wave is going left and the dolphin is "surfing" right. I am like, come on guys, I'm not trying to be petty here, but I will NOT fabricate a wave with anything surfing in the wrong direction. After a week or arguing, they finally gave in. I'm like trust me, even a 5 year old would walk under this thing and say "mommy, why is the dolphin surfing backwards?"
lol that's funny.i don't get the tool thing.yes its always good to have the tools necessary to fix shyt, but some people take high pride with their tools.my brothers a snap on freak, every tool he has is snap on.like a $400 torque wrench and other highly expensive stuff.i cant even imagine how much money he blew, but that's what sober people do lol.but yea better spend it on something u can show for instead of drugs.waste of money if u ask me.dont even think about using one of their tools lol
Rat red - great selection. Brings back loads of good memories. I had two of the skate decks (rob roskopp was my fav) and two of the surfboards (Willis bros and Fox). Great post
coop, as if we didn't have enough to talk about already with the Carver. We can talk HT all day. Nice soundproofing in that room with the fabric panels bro. You pushing 1080 on that PJ? I'd go with fixed screen when you get the chance and I hide speakers at all costs. I've got the beach theater combo for my living room. You can have both my good braddah. Gaff, is that board wedge against the wall with the channel top rails a Cole?
yea, 1080...gonna go 3d shortly...was going to do a fixed screen, but that would permanently cover the only window in the room...the wife wasn't gonna have that, so we went with a retractable screen...the room also operates as a guest bedroom, so they can raise the screen up if they want some fresh sunshine. I was also going to hide the speakers, but its just something about seeing the speakers I like...the room was designed with home theater in mind...double dry walled, acoustical glue between drywall sheets...sealed solid door for the entrance...the kids rooms that are adjacent are dead silent when listening at moderate levels, but when a movie goes in, its listened at reference...nothing going to keep all the sound out at high levels...the subs will shake the house off the foundation at times...gonna upgrade those as well this winter...going with big ported subs...not sure why, got enough bass but seem to always want more.
Gaff what's that yellow/red board in the rafters? From what I can see that looks like my cup of tea. If you have a pic I'd love to gawk at it
Okay bros. I was thinking about this man cave thread last night, and I was inspired to do a little remodeling last night... I think it's a pretty big improvement...
