You also see a severe reduction in coyotes since wolf reintro. Wolves kill a TON of coyotes, which are also basically dogs. So it all depends on what you think is "good". On how you define it. In a "balanced" ecosystem all kinds of animals still starve to death and die and lots are eaten alive. Don't really see how having killers like lions in peoples neighborhood is such a great thing. But it's all about your values. Maybe we should introduce africans lions into cities? lol
Do you also know 3 or 4 people that have been struck by lightning? Blacktips.... That aint going to happen with a white/bull/tiger shark. Catch and release is how a white shark hunts. They bite once and wait for prey to bleed to death then come back and feed You've been schooled son.
I have no friends in real life either and I'm fine with that. I don't like most people. They're mean.
Oh and I don't mind if there's grizzles/wolves in yellowstone. Only have a problem if they end up in my backyard. Grizzlies are dangeorus animals. Let them stay in yellowstone where they belong. Really just making my point that yellowstone did not die off because of loss of wolves. And AGAIN for the thousandth time a simply management stradegy of culling some sharks and moving seals would never result in species extinction anyway. It's patently adsurd. You could stop the culls/reduce amount caught if species was getting endangered duh
We don't need to swim in the oceans, but sharks do, so to kill off sharks because we want to feel safer in an environment we don't need to be in is just human greed IMO. Your allowed to disagree, and I'm fine with that, I just ask you to not take over the entire thread topic, just because you don't like other's opinions.
Ok, no problem, but I'll respond to this. We shouldn't fish then either since that is human greed. We don't belong in the ocean and don't need tuna to survive. We ENJOY tuna. And yes I do think people have a need to swim in the ocean safely. Agree to disagree. I won't post in this thread again.
Semantics. You simply have a different political philosophy that has been programmed into you by the current cultural conservationist agenda. By fishing the oceans we messing with the natural balance. What if the sharks that are culled that their meat is used? You could easily do the cull and make cat food out of them. We'd simply be trading one fish for another. It's not feasible to look for sharks. That' one reason why the fish industry uses tuna instead of sharks(mercury due to our own pollution is also an issue with humans eating it. Not as big of an issue for cats because it takes decades to really have an effect and you have eat A LOT of it. A few cans of cat food made with sharks would be fine for a cat) p.s. I'm leaving this thread. I was just responding to you,
There are MANY sharks swimming the shoreline. I shark during the summer and at times it can be non stop reel screaming action...we catch spinners, black tips, brown (aka sandbars), dusky's, and sand tigers. Rarely we catch bulls. Only heard 2 caught off the surf zone. Mainly brown, spinners, sand tigers and dusky's in our area...most are around 5', except sandtigers...they can get big and fat but not powerful like the other ones. Seen them when surfing too...I pay them no mind. You would probably have better odds being struck by lightning then getting bit. The only one that concerns me are sand tigers, quite a few of them, especially towards the evening hours. Not that they would go after you but they have a bite reflex. I would hate to accidentally put my foot in ones mouth...they have teeth like great whites. Biggest shark I ever caught was nine feet from the beach using offshore gear yakking baits out at night...wish I could find that pic. They are awesome creatures and should be protected...most of the sharks we catch are protected. Sandbar And 2 sand tigers.
Got to love it when Tobey (3 years old) comes out of the ocean yelling there is a shark. Yes there was a 5 footer 10 yards off the beach. Now we have to get the other kids that are 30 yards off the beach out of the water. All safe.....Thank you Jesus! My day yesterday, it is Fla, just a way of life.....feet up ride over the sharks.
that's a legit threat right there.florida has nothing on ca with sharks.those sharks at nsb were bottom feeders.its funny all the nsb surfers try actin cool like yea its normal, every single surfer in that video had there legs on the board, nobody had their feet in the water.that was the first thing I noticed.if it were me I would've came in asap.a shark is a shark,im not going to sit around and find out if its a safe shark or a great white.
The most predictable thing about sharks is that they are unpredictable. Just like people. Especially the feminine variety. (Que the Jaws theme music).
I usually thank the good Lord before (and sometimes after) I go in the ocean. You and your family are blessed, even if you are a troll.
Man I wouldn't know what to do. Move around too much, GW thinks you're bait. Move around too little, you aren't going to be on land anytime soon. Feet in the water, might lose one. Paddling with hands, might lose that too. I'd really have to feel out the situation. I want to say I'd try and paddle slow, but that many GWs in a small vicinity....there must be some blood in the water. I don't want to give them a reason, I'd assume keep my hands and feet in, keep my eyes on the water, wait a bit. If a wave comes in, just ride it in laying down. I'm cool with sharks, as most are going to leave you the eff alone. GWs.....I don't want them to think for two seconds I'm anything but ocean debris if I can help it. Maybe I've got it all wrong, than again...is there really a right way to approach that situation? As said, unpredictable. It's like preparing for a tornado. All fine and dandy until it touches down.
