no acid involved. you can call baloney on me all you want but you could also show me some respect by acknowledging that a man who has 50 YEARS SHORTBOARDING experience has seen a thing or two. does your surfing resume compare? at all??
Last summer I was sitting at AI in my chair behind my truck, under my umbrella, blazing hot day. Guy in the rig next to me, about 40 yds over, had like 5 poles out. He's over there snoozing. I can tell he's snoozing 'cause his head is lolling about. All of a sudden: wham! one of those poles gets jerked up & out into the ocean so fast that I thought one of Archy's Aliens had whipped it loose. I mean, whatever hit that line was big & strong & just lightning quick. So the guy's rod is now 30' out & moving out to sea. I yell over to him, hey! & point, and he comes alive. Sprints towards the water & hits it like Phelps. He's churning & gaining on the pole. All of a sudden the pole comes to a dead stop. We're watching from the beach & thinking, crap, something under there pulled a U-turn. Of course, fisher buoy can't see any of this; he's still steaming along towards the pole. He grabs the rod & swims back in. Gotta give him props, for a big buoy he was a strong swimmer. Gets out, reels in the line & then we see the hook: it wasn't a hook anymore, that's for sure. It was almost straightened out.
yeah. that stuff. fact is; assateague is a little wilder than most other beaches…sometimes ALOT!! and yeah that fisherman had cojones….i might have written off that equipment….
Yankee, what kind of fishing poles float? Or, was the water that clear? Baddy, why wouldn't you pull your line in? If you did hook it, it would have been a better story
on account it scared the snot out of me even considering i was on the beach and it was 50 yards out… and yankee, re: F-350 type spike/dyke, well now that you know you will start seeing more. rest assured its a localized phenomenon. kinda like a destination resort...
Fair enough! I can't say what I would have done in the situation, but sitting at my desk in front of my computer, I can say I would have left my line out. LMAO
Hell if I know. All I know is he must have paid a lot for it, based on his reaction, or, he just hated to lose stuff like that.
Maybe so. Haven't seen a lot of it in all the years I been going to AI. Then again, it's a lot more crowded with inconsiderate assenhollen behaviors from all types of morons than I'd care to witness.
march/april…..october/november. nuf said. m-falcon mosquitos. and rangers. and out of control wildlife… here i go again….haha those two women could only afford one tent...
Nope, I moved back to Delaware about 3 years ago, and have no plans to move. Was in Jersey for only a year. It takes a bit to adjust to the slower lower pace, but I like it a lot down here.
Tough to answer, because i was injured for quite a while, when I was in Jersey. Delmarva feels more easily accessible traveling on Coastal Hwy, rather then having to jump on the parkway to travel to different areas. Jersey has more overall options, but I think I surf just as much down here and I like the breaks that we do have.
It was white, that's what I recall. And it def floated. What can I say: the dude probably would have wrestled a shark to get his gear back in. It was a bizarre moment in time.
My apologies, sir....my surfing resume doesn't compare, just wanted to make sure it was a real account. Sometimes i can be a real wise cracker....in this context I don't mean a smart caucasian. No hard feelings, alright.
Some of that gear is pretty expensive, so I can understand! I'm sure it was a good show, none the less.
The entire AI wild side is always a show in the summertime. It's one nutbag after another. And what's with all the fat females in bikinis? Showing off ass slabs that look like IHOP meltdowns? What has happened to this country?!
