next one will make Julean fries. That's a beautiful board and I'd love to be able to afford it. Maybe with my SI discount, I'd only have to sell my house and my first born.
looks like it has too much rocker.... and the blue color of the fin is the wrong blue. lol. kidding ol roystein! looks nice.
The craftsmanship is excellent, without a doubt. Looks as if it's got a fair amount of concave almost throughout the shape. I'm curious about a couple of items: What is the purpose of the semi-circular fin trailer, and why do wood shapes appear to have so little foil compared to their foam counterparts?
Back in the 70's a friend and I were going to try to shape a board. the design we came up with was similar to the melonballer but was more like a manta ray mouth. we pooled our money, bought a blank, drew out a design and whittled it down to a hand plane. It's a special person that can make a precious item out of a block of something.
First, not New. I'd hate for you to be disappointed and have to pay for freight back. plus no refunds.
I wouldn't say a Roy board is a Tom Blake at all. Roy's olo trumps Blake's olo easily. Even Blake would admit that. Just look at brad Tucker's footage of the Blake olo replica and compare to Roy's olo. Hmmmmmmmm
Does the gnome, aka dad-da, pay you to post this drivel, chucka boo boo? Seriously, wtf do you know about Blake's boards? You're up there in your Maine woodshop, beating on latex dummies, while your dog rips the ass out of same. Then you post that idiocy in the Internet. The only thing you know about is where to get cheap latex sex dolls to replenish your barn supply.
Well spotted she has a single nose to tail concave, approximately 9mm deep at the rocker apex. Most wooden boards have profile taper or 'foil' similar to what foam boards have. mine differ in that they have a parallel profile i.e. no profile taper. The tunnel fin provides a huge increase in drive, and more planing area in the tail without having to widen the tail, it does this with completely neutral handling, so the single fin feel is maintained.

Come on yank...from Roy's perspective he's not riding the board in the sweet spot...addressed before in this thread...talk about beating a dead horse. The better question would be about the angle of the attack of the bottom (?) of the fin (bottom curve of the tunnel fin...wondering if it would create unnecessary drag...why not just create a square tunnel fin...what's the word Roy?...and why the addition of the center fin...more drag..maybe some overkill? Just wondering not trolling ya...
The only "dead horse" on this Forum is gnome's board. Talk about one of the biblical plagues being inflicted upon us... And you; you tumble straight into gnome's chasm of stupidity, i.e, the gnome posts moronic designs & claims to be the best shaper in the world, and there you go asking serious questions about gnome's glued-together woodpiles. I mean, do you even surf...? Or is it just Monday? Because, really, asking if the gnome's gigantic wood plank would have less drag if the fin were shaped differently is wtf material.
