The craftsmanship is excellent, without a doubt. Looks as if it's got a fair amount of concave almost throughout the shape. I'm curious about a couple of items: What is the purpose of the semi-circular fin trailer, and why do wood shapes appear to have so little foil compared to their foam counterparts?

 

Back in the 70's a friend and I were going to try to shape a board. the design we came up with was similar to the melonballer but was more like a manta ray mouth. we pooled our money, bought a blank, drew out a design and whittled it down to a hand plane. It's a special person that can make a precious item out of a block of something.

I wouldn't say a Roy board is a Tom Blake at all. Roy's olo trumps Blake's olo easily. Even Blake would admit that. Just look at brad Tucker's footage of the Blake olo replica and compare to Roy's olo. Hmmmmmmmm

The better question would be about the angle of the attack of the bottom (?) of the fin (bottom curve of the tunnel fin...wondering if it would create unnecessary drag...why not just create a square tunnel fin...what's the word Roy?...and why the addition of the center fin...more drag..maybe some overkill? Just wondering not trolling ya...
