Hopefully this thing doesn't accelerate to fast leaving us with a small window in NC. NHC says it will reach southern NC Friday morning but I could see it moving faster than that. But who knows, it could sit off Fla. longer than expected. Time will tell.

I meant the winds. I know the swell will be there but the winds being that light and offshore early will probably not happen. Who knows. It's still 3 days out

For my own selfish reasons, I hope it accelerates a bit and creeps up past southern, SC sooner than thursday mid-morning. I am hoping that it wont be parked right in front of us with 25 MPH NE winds on it....

We will all just have to wait and see what happens. SI's swell model has the storm parking MUCH closer to SC than what is indicated on the weather channel and noaa models. SI has that sucker basically clipping our shorelines early Thursday, while the other models don't indicate it coming that close to shore.

Yeah, If things pan out, OBX could be "all time" epic on Friday. I am sure it's gotten bigger, but anyone asking for anything over 8-10 in OBX is probably lying to themselves. A day of consistent, offshore 6-10 foot OBX. Man, cats are going to be all over that. I wouldn't be surprised to see the west coast guys fly out and mobb the sh** show that day. Guys from Jersey and Florida are probably already planning the trip.

Don't worry. The guys making the trip from the west coast will be in the Volcom chopper, so they will be able to score where ever they want.

Most likely, considering our forecast map here in Jerz is shaped like an asian penus.

Bros, I'm actually in Jerz for work at the moment til tomorrow. Should I bounce down to the OBX from here or go back and score south swell in Rhodey or the islands?

Why does everybody who lives in beach break land think that every Tropical Swell is going to automatically be epic?

    Why?
    ............................

Spicoli, you're in Jersey and didn't tell me? God, that hurts. Where you at, brah?

Northern part of the state. Took me 28 minutes to get to a WaWa last night. Oh, but when I did...

    Ahhhhh, North Jersey.....North Jersey

    It's always North Jersey

Are you southerners starting to see why I hate North Jersey?

They have WaWa's in North Jersey these days? Like way up north?

I know they were in Southern Ocean way way back, but I didn't know they were all the way up in the heart of North Jersey/New Yorker-land.

You see why I hate North Jersey, they even stole our WaWa's - the greatest convenience stores in the continental U.S.

Take that, STORE 24 !!!!! And F#@$ Cumberland Farms.

Haha. Epic. I am sure there is some buoy data confusion, as the storm was be on top of that buoy at the time, but at any rate, that is lining up for some Belmar style surf....

havent been living back east for too long, but these beachies only get so big, so even in OBX I would imagine it maxes out at around 12-15 foot, MAX, even with 40 feet of swell.

That is an epic reading though... .

White water to the horizon, just about. It looked pretty friggin huge around here in the ground zero region. Waves smashed houses off there foundations, into other houses, and into the bay. There was almost 100 cars in the bay. 2 new inlets formed on our barrier island too. The remnants of the piers looked like they were straight up bombed. Everyone saw the roller coaster in the surf right? Steel frame roller cars were washing up miles away. It was way bigger then 15 ft. I've seen 15 plenty of times and this was a different animal.

Yeah, didn't see much footage up in Jersey. Just going off the crew in my old neighborhood in Delmarva. Raven and those guys got it pretty much as big as it can hold down there. It was maxed out, I think. And I would say that was a solid 12 footer he got. The biggest one that made the paper down there.

I would love to see, even if it is just storm surf, some photos of those waves though, cause the biggest waves, even storm surges I have (me personally) ever seen, even just in photos of Delmarva and Jerz was no more than 15ft. The waves that Raven towed into in Maryland that day were the biggest waves I have ever seen photos of in Jersey or Maryland. I mean, people actually riding the waves. I know Jersey gets as big as anyone, I have just not ever seen any photos of guys surfing bigger waves than in Delmarva that day. I would say that is 15 foot max. Hawaiians would call it 7, but hey.

My guess is 20ft+ faces at its peak, seen some pretty large waves from Bill in that category, don't know exact size, but as big as most people will ever see up close

Sucks for all you on the east coast cause its never as good as it will say....been in Costa Rica for 3 weeks and I promise you.....it will NEVER be as good from Maine to Floriday as it has been here....Santa Teresa, Jaco, Hermosa, Esterillios, Dominical, Pavones......just be glad you guys live near the beach and not in Kansas. Be thankful for living near the greatful ocean of the Atlantic....even though she may not treat us like the Pacific sister....we are all lucky and fortunate to be able to paddle out in an awesome place wether it be ankle high or head high. Pura Vida to all those who get it and for those who don't.....I feel for you....maybe one day you will. Gracias para los olas todas dias mi amigos!!!!!! Peace....................
