Well then stay home & surf MagicSeaweed & pm the gnome & get wet that way.

Having said that: CR in July always has waves, and it's easy to get to, even from a third world country like Canada. Leave your loonies & toonies with your transgender housemates in Toronto.

Btw, that Mariana Trench audio is pretty cool. Defintely leaving it on repeat when I leave the building for lunch.

I wonder if that's the noise you hear when a goblin shark is about to attack. You've got the jaws tune for great whites, but what about when one of these guys comes a lurkin out of the trench?

It would be quite a juxtaposition, soothing spacey soundtrack while getting chomped by the creepiest shark around :)

Hey, please allow me to comment on this matter.

    Thank you

All y'all - yeah you - are telling this dude to go to all of these magnificent exotic spots.

The dude's handle is surf NEWBY. Novices from the Jane and Finch neighboUrhood of Toronto don't really need to go to Bali. Only shredders should go to Bali.

Hey, I added the "U" to "neighborhood." Dude, I'm totally killing it on here.

    Y'all seeing my point?

I don't know. I just don't understand how things work anymore. Everybody seems to be Rick Kane these days - ready for Pipeline after a few sessions.

Besides, third world countries are gross. Yuck !!!

Surfnewby, go to Avon, NC. You'll love it. They got a Food Lion there and a pier.

Well, if I remember correctly, OP took some week-long private lessons in Hawaii, and he trains intensively, so he may be ready for more than the average newb.

Nonetheless, I agree with Ghost about the exotic locales being absolutely unnecessary. If OP has only surfed a total of 21 days, does it really make sense to go to Bali for a week? Or two?

I'd recommend something more amenable to beginners, whether it be in Centro, Mexico, or California. Then again, perhaps I am under-appreciating the value of private lessons on world class waves....

To afford Bali, but only for a week ... que lastima

The lessons in Hawaii were really good, but the ones in Costa Rica 2 months ago were far better. I think it's because the instructor was a considerably better surfer and the conditions were also much harder. That being said, of course it didn't make me a pro and I would never dream of paddling out in double overhead. However, a shoulder height wave would be perfect for me, crystal clear warm water would also be a nice plus.

Leaning towards Mexico or maybe even south shore Oahu, or maybe a different island.

If not for this thing called a career I'd be on a plane already....
