Nice video. Crazy sh**. What's really amazing to me is that guys have been charging those huge waves for SOOOOO long before us, with terrible equipment. Talk about balls. Dropping into 25ft Waimea Bay on Giant 11 foot single fin planks.... Talk about leading the way. Those guys probably look at modern surfing with out jet skis and foot straps and life vests and air tanks and think we are just vaginas.

Not really a throwback, but this video was interesting. Bunch of dudes longboarding Pipe. Don't see that every day. Bonga had the most legit ride of the video obviously. Perfect 10

sick one, I tried to find a good pic of one of his Pipe bottom turns, but the best I could find is this poor quality video, check out the second wave

Looks kind of lke the bottom turns in that skimboard video, or this

To be honest dude I have no clue and was wondering the same...I honestly think it's just an old beat up leftover something with the slick peeled off...

And now that I looked at it again, it has like a bite mark taken out the top corner. Sweet.

Word...the bottom reminds me of this 8TX.jpg , if the slick peeled off...old Morey with dimples in the slick(was intended to create speed but discontinued after this board. Hahaha at the bite mark!

thread back on track! Did you ever ride one of those? I borrowed a friend's once, maybe it was in my head but it did seem faster, and felt like it had less hold. That last point might be true, because I think they came out with a second version that didn't have dimples out toward the rail, only in the middle.

Dude, looking foward to watching that vid and seeing what that board's about...I did have and ride the old 8-TX, and I agree it did seem faster(but also wondered if it was in my head)...my clearest memory with it was landing my first big roll on a solid wave, so it's a favorable one. I gave it to my niece and nephew to play with at the beach, and I don't see it in their garage aymore so who knows. I still have my Challenger Kauai Classic, will post pics when I get home later,

I was thinking the same, surfers were hardcore back in the day,i couldn't imagine swimming in on a 30ft day at waimea after losing the board.jetskis didn't even exist in those days, just balls.and most of those surfers were big time alcoholics and drug addicts and still charge harder than guys nowadays
