If I had it my wave, the 10 tour stops would be as follows, in any order:

    Pipeline, HI
    Teahupoo, Tahiti
    Puerto Escondido, Mexico
    J-Bay, South Africa
    Uluwatu, Indonesia
    Trestles, CA
    Rincon, CA
    Superbank, Australia
    Cloudbreak, Fiji
    Pavones, Costa Rica

Throw in one final championship matchup at Shipsterns bluff and call it a day.

The above list provides so really big really heavy waves as well as spots like Pavones. I would love to see the tour guys ride a left hander for 5 straight minutes and see what kind of "runs" they could put together on one wave....

Just my thoughts, but that is a fair list. Maybe take the one of the CA events away to spread the love elsewhere, but I think that is what the tour should look like. No sh*** waves on the whole lineup.[/QUOTE]

Nice selection! Pavones would be ridiculous.

I can't believe it. This is so depressing, I thought it was a good place to have a break. Well if you could suggest some other places, where would it be?

A whole leg of the tour should be dedicated to Indo. At least 1 in Central or South America would be nice

Definitely don't think CA should have two on the list while HI only has one. You could have multiples for HI though on different islands (Kauai and Maui). Nica could have one too. I also like the idea of Ireland in cold water. The pros should have to be great in all temps to win the title.

I could care less about surf contests, and as far as it not being fair to them? You gotta be kidding me, they get paid to surf! Such a scam haha, I enjoy a good surf video, and occasionally I'll watch a live stream if the waves are epic, but do I care if they have to surf knee high slop for big money? Nope, i mean how awful do they have it? Feel me? If they cancelled the entire tour today I would give zero f*cks, cause guess what! I'm still gonna surf my ass off regardless. And Sandblaster had a good point too, those dudes could care less about me or you. They are living their dream, and that's cool, but their dream has nothing to do with me.

Word DSUP. The whole ASP is just a glorified ad anyways. Mostly boring as sh!t. Sometimes they're alright, but only if it's really firing wherever they're at.

If I had it my wave, the 10 tour stops would be as follows, in any order:

    folly beach sc,
    cape island, sc
    bull island, sc
    tybee isand, georgia
    hunting island,sc
    myrtle beach ,sc
    iop,sc
    the wedge, hateras
    b-mar ,nj

i know sup these people are acutely problematic to people like us, they cash in..i dont blame them but, theyre the reason i see soft tops and a bunch or yuppies driving around with nsp boards. they do nothing for us, **** man id be carving boards out of trees like they did back in the day if they were not at ready demand. its hard to find a place now a days and crave out your own little piece of paradise. its all the big businesses just trying to sell they're product in different ways , whether its kelly slater hats or nice board shorts..im guilty of buying those...the shorts that is, but they last me a long time unlike walmart ones. where i will get a sexual charge because they split at the crouch and my dik flys out...

LOL! Don't forget a TX stop. Maybe a Rip Curl Search style contest on Lake Erie.

I like the tour. Just because those dudes are so good.
But watching in boring waves does suck.
It has to suck for most of them too. I know they get paid, but most don't make that much. And to travel around the world (especially without a sponsor) and not get good surf has to suck.

I feel the same way about all fans. I have friends that are huge Yankee fans and get pissed if they lose. I'm always saying, "You thinkg Derek Jeter gives a fu$k how you did at work today? He's out banging some super model while your crying that he struck out"

I kinda like that they have spots like rio on tour...it adds variety and shows how well a surfer can manage challenging, onshore, crumbly conditions. The windward Caribbean islands would be entertaining...or, better yet, jamaica, the caymans or aruba.

Yeah, but the surfers love it and its the only real place on tour to let the young guys put on an air show like that. Rio is the worst. Annually. Many argue this, but I thought the one in NY was one of the worst ever. Just my opinion.

What? The NY contest (final day) was sick! Talk about lucking out though.

I agree with Waterbaby. There has to be a stop or two like Rio to mix it up. They can't all just be hero waves.

I know, I know, we have debated this on here. There were a few okay waves that final day, but I watched tons of groveling slop on the days leading up. The Alternate location for that year, OB SF was going ballistic the whole time. I just thought they made a bad call and that it was all about marketing media turnouts.

I guess anytime they stop at the HB pier, it has the potential to be the worst contest of the year. Sometimes they score, but sometimes its junk...

And for lowers, I would say that should be the only "non hero wave" on tour. Its world class, but not death defying. Only reason they have anything in Brazil is because the amount of surfers coming out of there. They felt like they had to. I mean, are there no reefs or points in all of Brazil?

That Rio contest was aweful, it usually is. I can see the qualification series running in more moderate waves, but this is the "dream tour". It is supposed to all be hero waves IMO. It supposed to be the best guys in the world, in the best waves, make surfers and non surfers alike go, DAMN!!!!

I had none of those moments at the NY, HB or Rio stops. I just think that the surfers play down to the waves they are in. Aside from the typical air reverse here and there and a few vertical backside snaps, the waves just make the surfing look mediocre. We all have enough opportunity to see Pro Ams and lower level contests in our local waters and at typical beach breaks. I don't want to see Jordy, John John and kelly pumping through chest high beach break with onshore wind flow.... If I wanted to watch guys doing that, I could just sit and watch any web cam in SoCal on a Thursday and see almost as impressive displays of surfing.

I mean, if you have to have an extra contest in the states, do it at Rincon, or Steamers, or somewhere good. Don't just post up at a beach break and make the best guys in the world surf badly.
