Here's another fun plant fact for ya. Palms are often referred to as "palm trees" but they are not trees at all. They have a totally different structure and evolution than trees do. They are actually more closely related to grasses.

    I'm with you 100%, bro.

Only when it falls OFF the tree. We use it for "decor" at a lot of stage sets and themed events. The guys told me dont EVER pull it from off the ground. They second it touches land, it becomes a thriving home for ticks and a million other little insects. They told me horror stories about bringing it in to resorts and stuff and infesting a 10,000 sq foot ball room. Don't know if that is true, but until proven otherwise, I will take the advice of guys born and raised here. They just said, do what you want with it when it's in a tree, but the second it hits the ground, its garbage.

And San Diego county has the highest density of "Palm Trees" in the country, and not one of them is indigenous. I always thought that was interesting.

That is neat about the palms. That's new to me as well, I have a stronger grasp on northern flora so I find that stuff cool. This clip's for you Valhalla, it's what your screen name always makes me think of:

OK, I can understand that. I can see it being attractive to unwanted critters.

I don't know about the highest density thing but Washingtonia filifera is indigenous, if not to San Diego at least to California. But yeah, San Diego has an excellent climate for many palms though perhaps a bit dry for some.

    Good one, zach.

Those pics are good stuff, metard. Florida itself is an enviromental disaster.

One of the better incidents here happened many years ago. Gas tanker truck stuck in stop and go traffic stops on the railroad tracks. Crossing gates come down. Truck can't move forward or back due to traffic. Train plows into truck. Amazing colossal fireball ensues. Many people die.

Reminds me of a cat we had but she had a small grey mohawk patch atop her forehead. Awesome cat. She ate stuff like blueberries, grapes and tangerines and would play fetch. Would sleep on my wife's pillow every night. Cancer took her 6 years ago.

Sorry for your loss man...cats are great. I've never seen one with such a diverse appetite, but my cat Smokey from a few years back would play fetch with marbles...Juniper(my cat now) is a little tweaker...funny b/c I see learned behaviors w/ both her and my dog...ie/ she comes up to me and sits at my feet w/ her back turned, just like dog behavior.
