Looks about the same out there today. Guys are surfing really well given the conditions. I know this has been said before, but what is up with all the Brazilians "claiming" it after 4.0-5.0 rides. Like, Alex Ribeiro just did two backside snaps, pumped for 30 seconds into the reform and did two weak as$ little frontside snaps and he stared at the beach, one arm first pump and claimed it with a dropping of the hammer arm motion and a scowl on his face while he screamed out at the top of his lungs. They gave him a 6, but that was the lowest high score of the heat. WTF? I am happy as the next guy to get a good wave, but that was one of the worst of the heat, and home boy just claimed it with authority. Must be a Brazilian thing. Ugh.
The shortboarders would look ridiculous in the current conditions. Whats the deal with the LB comp? Never really watched one. What are the rules? Must be a single fin log. No leash. And just freestyle it after that? The waves are crap, but these single fins are making the guys look like its the 60s. Not in a bad way, just a trippy style. Very unstable looking. Lots of nose riding though.
Got it. This must be the "Duct Tape INV" Surf Equipment Must be a single fin No plugs on board (leash or side fins) 9'2 minimum length (or 3ft. over your head) 12lb. minimum weight
