Either I'm blind or 93L is no longer listed on this site's trop storm tracker. Anyone with an update? zach, have the defib ready from HAARP if needed.

Hate to be a pessimist, but I am getting the gut feeling that 93L is fading. Not good for my summertime blues on the beach considering the last swell was Arthur that we enjoyed in SC. This system needs help from aloft meaning lack of wind shear to stand a chance to advance to the next level. Time will tell.

This is aggravating as one report in the last couple hours states winds are up to 45 and it's inevitable for a TS then another report from a different source 4 hours ago says the jury is still out from that dry Saharan air. Isn't it already technically a TD and swiftly approaching TS? Did Bertha from BelMa blow her load prematurely?

    Where's da waves Lebowski???

Yessahhhhh! Bouts damn time that broad got an upgrade to BelMar status. That's a nice track. So Weds/Thurs for Mid-Atlantic/NE?

Couldn't stop singing Love Train with the words hype train to myself in the lineup last night. Thought of you braddahs.

For sure. Long as it doesn't get too close to y'all like Arthur did. If she stays like this, you should get two days of pretty fun surf.

Nope, she will do just fine. But it depends on where you will be. "us" is different if you are down in VB/NC or up in the NE somewhere. Everyone "should" get some loving as long as Bertha doesn't tip toe her way over the islands into the gulf.

She has got a lot of islands to get over before she starts sending good swell to the SE. Not really untill Monday that she can send clear pulses to the SE coast so that is probably why they are only showing waist high for SE NC.

Yeah, Tuesday has been the day to watch for down here since she started tracking. Good to see her stall the last two days didn't drag her too far behind.

Tuesdays and Thursdays are best for me. 2 hour lunch break if she comes through on Wednesday, but I have tuesday and thurs mornings cleared, so that would be ideal =)

Looking like waist to chest, and clean for 2 days here, in my opinion. SI is calling for less, but they are often underpredicting on decent clean swells.

Yeah, it's weird, I think all the data models are in a state of "pause" right now with this weather system. Everyone from SI, to MSW to surfline have retracted their swell data on it as of last night. We will have to see as it gets closer if they include that data back into the forecast.

Right now, I assume that the most recent models are showing that Bertha is heading gulf-ward. In 48 hours or so, if she passes on the North, I think the models will change.

Very strange how that happened. I mean, SI never really bolstered it being over chest high, but it doesn't show the storms path on the animation the way it did before.

I will take a couple chest high days for sure, but I think everyone got spooked by the hype train and they want to see where this is going before they track it to the SE.

If it follows the path of NOAA, I don't see how she could just park off the SC coast for a whole day and only spin us Waist to Chest swell. Unless she just doesn't build any steam. She is building today though.

Chest high ground swell sounds pretty great. Lineup will be insane. The early bird will get the worm. Tourists like to surf after latttes.... Montauk.jpg

Patience people, take a breath.... let Bertha do her thing and she'll bring us all some waves, have faith.

I am basing that off the fact that it is only supposed to remain as a tropical storm. I think being that far off the coast without a lot of energy won't get us overhead. Now, if the models start predicting hurricane energy, then it will get big. Personally, I like chest here the best. Overhead is a bit beyond my comfort level, especially with our lack of point breaks in SC.

Here on HHI, HH and above is when things really get going. Chest high is fun and nice, but if there are strong offshores or anything, a chest high day can easily turn into a fish/longboard only kinda deal. I don't think it holds much more than a few feet OH down here, so I will take whatever Bertha or the Atlantic can throw at us. I think even if its a TOH swell, it would crap down into the 6-8 foot range. That is the largest I have seen here in 2 years. And it was on the 8 foot side of things for less than an hour.
