The CrossBo redefines surfboard transportation

All you damn kooks coming on here looking for free ad space or dontations. Plus how much of a hassle is it really to get your board to the beach? I'm mean you are right all I hear from surfers is damn if only there was a better way to tie my boards to the roof, oh boo hoo, please somebody invent me soem expensive kook certified way to hook my boards to the rack. I have been surfing for 24 years and in all that time I have never had a problem using straps to tie the board down and never once lost a board. IMO this is a waste of time.

 

my roof rack MUST carry canoe/sup/longboards/bags of shortboards/aunt edna.
does it do all that?

 

a lot of people don't surf alone and carpool the beach.... this looks like it is only able to strap one surfboard to the roof....

Exactly what I was going to say after looking at it. Or what if you want to bring a LB and a fish? Also Ben what is the price gonna be? I got some webbing straps from my local rock climibng store that were $6 for two 10ft straps with handy ends to feed them through that oinch down on the strap like a belt or other surf straps do. Cinch em down, tie of the excess and you are good to go in less than 3 min and under $10. Agree with Fitz, back to the drawing board my man.

 

the only time I ever had a problem with normal straps is one day I threw the board on the roof, ...read the bong thread about a dozen times..., then drove off without ever strapping it down. It actually made it quite a few blocks before taking flight.

But, I mean, you can't stack boards? That stinks. Plus there is no security measure other than confusing folks. If you can untie my body-weight-tightened-double-knot before I run out to the car screaming, you have earned the board.

You know, I dream of being an inventor too. Like, what if you had a cat proof christmas tree stand, imagine the possibilities!

 

The guy says this on his link:

Namely, an extension kit. The extension kit is under development, and will allow users to stack up to 2 boards using the CrossBo."

It looks promising. I would try it out when I use the SUV. Which is rare as my longboard fits inside my old Prius with room to spare-- not a cool surf vehicle, but surprisingly roomy and you can't beat 55 mpg. Actually fits two longboards, a short board, gear and squeeze in a passenger inside the Prius with plenty of visibility.

 

u know I personally hate tying boards to the roof.if u live in a location like where I live,and u drive down with 3 boards on the roof,every single surfer driving is going to follow u to the exact spot u go to.roof ties are cancer,and its the reason I still never got to use my lb I bought 3 years ago

companies like quicksilver,oneill,billabong got where they are today by selling clothes.people don't buy surfboards everyday,not even Kelly.but people buy flip flops,boardshorts,and skinny jeans.

Yeah I was at the doc yesterday flipping though some crappy magazine and there was at least a half dozen ads pitching the surfer "lifestyle". One of the ads even said, "Even if you don't surf you can look like a surfer".

New guy at work, network engineer, wears a Quicksilver, Hurley,Volcom, etc. shirt literally every day. I asked him if he surfed and he looked at me like I had grown a second head.

Told him there's a guy in Florida giving away free shirts like this. Just look for the white van with no windows.

 

Yeah, there really isn't a way to make money on this. As the old saying goes, If if ain't broke, don't fix it. We can get 5 boards on our cars, and maybe even some inside. This can fit 1. Rad. And it's freekin $80. I could buy 80 bars of wax with dat cash.

 

I think the sharks on shark tank might eat you alive w this idea....

 

the obvious flaws in this product are:

-surfers don't need it and won't buy it because it's unnecessary and it looks queer and the inventor is obviously a total kook who doesn't even know how to properly strap his kooky firewire board to his dang minivan.

Betty I am very interested in seeing two longboards, one shortboard and a passenger inside a prius. That is quite a feat!

 

Is it just me, or is anyone else thinking that only using 1 of this fine young gentleman's "crossbo"s on the front half of the board will leave the back half of the board flapping up and down against the roof? There is a great reason that you use 2 straps when transporting, like a front one AND a back...so are we supposed to buy 2 of these things? I dont get it.

 

They don't know what the queers are doing to the soil.
