i switched from my 9,4 to 6,4 to 5,8 and when that 5,8 took off right the peak and i got some speed it would rip super hard, if i shoulder dropped with it i wouldnt get enough speed. i think that i gained 20 pounds since i got it doesnt help either. but it has the be the most response board i have to bad we dont get big enough waves to surf it all the time.
Yeah man. Thank god for the fish. Did the 9'3 to the 5'7 thing yesterday too. Plenty of fun though. Have the log in the truck to go clean up scraps when the tide pops back up. New LB was for sure the best investment I have made in the past 2 years. On a side note, anyone on the market for about 10 mint potato chip shortboards?

That's why I own a 6'8" performance egg. All year round and all size waves, it is just fine. I haven't touched my HPSB ever. When I get my 9'2" log back from the repair shop, I will have a new knee high vessel. I was a bit jealous of the long boarders on Monday night, as I watched them catch shoulder high barrels long before they even started to break. Yesterday afternoon, a log was not needed.
i caught a few good barrels on my log they wernt long maybe a few 2seconds. but if your going for a long barrel on the long boards most the time the wave will smash you ha. but low tide yesterday i took out my sponge and got some great barrels. i love my 6,4 can catch and do anything in any conditions its a 6,4. it looked like folly had way better barrels than we did though.
Yeah Brew I have been considering an Egg. How wide is your 6'8"? I was thinking of going that length but had no idea on width and thickness.
My egg is 6'8"x21.5"x2.75", and has a fairly flat bottom. I am guessing that is why I have no problem catching waves with it. I know I talk him up a lot here, but Phil Taylor really is the man when it comes to shaping mid sized sticks.

yeah she is...but I told Whiz when we were drawing it up that I didn't need a groveler. If the waves are in the 2ft range the board is a little to light in volume (I'm a fat 180ish and 5'10).... but its a pocket rocket for anything in the waist and up range and a better board for the off-tide too fast or too fat waves than my standard SB.
I like that board plan shape with the full nose and pulled in tail. Have you ridden that in some punchy barrels or is there not enough rocker? The tails looks pulled in enough to lock into the wave on a barrel.

I would still be careful to not leave your board in a padded reflective board bag out in the sun too long. I did and found a few spots bubbled up on my board. Course was in Texas, hotter than a well diggers ass, weather so I'm sure that had a lot to do with it.
