Um not really. I agree with ZACK619 on this. They have a good message but come across in a bad way by doing extreme things in order to get the message out http://www.peta.org/about-peta/faq/why-does-peta-use-controversial-tactics/ Like I said in an earlier thread when you force an ideal on people it will usually be met with resistance. So it's no surprise to me to see negativity towards PETA especially when you consider that over 99% of Americans eat/ wear animals or animal products.
don't know too much about peta saving animals, but the Monmouth county humane society are the Nazis of animal savers.my old cat buddy, who was literally like 27 years old,i thought he would've died a long time ago,but he refused to die.and after he got really old,u know when they start growing dreadlocks and stuff comes out their eyes,we knew he was on his way out and we called the humane society. I shyt u not people, they came and scooped my cat up in the backyard with a shovel, and through him in the back of the van like he was a scoop of dirt.then they had the nerve to say well let u know if we can save him.i wanted to punch the people in the face.they are Nazis.if ur animal is sick or dying,do not call the humane society,go to the vet and have them properly put down
and my cat buddy was the craziest and strongest cat I ever had.my stepdad found him as a stray off the turnpike in Newark,so we knew he had those killer instincts.u could drop a grenade infront of him and he wouldn't flinch.he used to drag towels in the night and meow really loud lmao.my last german shepherd I had, buddy tormented him his whole life and was the only cat that would make my killer dog backdown.he was one of a kind and his fur was like a tuxedo, black with a white v neck under the chin.he was the best feline I ever had.rip bud
They were my customer at my old job all of the monmouth county locations. Every time I had to go to one of their spots id cringe due to the fact I felt like I was hanging out with a bunch of serial killers, not the cool kind like Dexter.
Bro, I worked there when I was 18 yrs old. The one on Shafto Rd. The place is shot out. I have some stories you wouldn't believe. The aspca is not to much better. They get away with that **** because society buys their "we are saving the animals" pitch. It's so efin bogus
Lots of good opinions being thrown around. Personally, i agree with PETA on some things like animal cruelty, factory farming, orcas in captivity etc but it's there tactics and the fact that they try to push there way of life down on others that throws me off. For example, there whole Got Autism add ticked me off. Look into it.
i approve of street theatre. in addition to the absence of violence it makes an impression on people. i see peta dragging us in the right direction; whether we want to go or not. eating low on the food chain may someday become more than just an option. all this from me - a non-vegan who aspires to be one but repeatedly fails at such....
I saw this thread over the weekend from my kindle37s and needed a keyboard to properly chime in. Pretty much what others have said...they stand for something good, but don't always go aboot it the right way. Plus, I resent always being associated with them by tea-baggin types. I knew about wilderness issues and wanted to hunt trophy hunters way before I knew about PETA...so, I don't like how they overshadow the likes of Ed Abbey, Aldo Leopold, John Muir, Thoreau, some of the founding fathers, back to the indigenous people of this land...the true bedrock of American Environmentalism. The fur coats they gave to the homeless should have been buried and repatriated to the Earth. I realize the need for law-abiding environmental groups, and there seem to be some moderately effective legal organizations...but where the f**k are the elves. I'm growing weary of Rule of Law. It makes me feel like a Tory.
will you look at that. myself, GODSMOONBEAM, and ghandi are all in the same boat. somebody PLEASE take a picture...
Not PETA, but related. All the more reason to help local agencies if you care. Loval shelters, organizations etc. Much truth to the adage of "Think Globally Act Locally". http://www.awesomeocean.com/2014/07/31/breaking-hsus-loses-charity-rating/
1. they are staffed exclusively by angry vegan lesbians 2. they kill kittens, no ,really, they ****ing murder kittens. Baby cats. kittens. WTF? 3. They hate humans. Most of their jobs are volunteer. The few that are paying, barely pay anything, Yet, they spend millions and millions of dollars doing dumb ****. How about multi-million dollar waterfront building right in the heart of downtown norfolk? is that really a necessary location? I mean, they aren't launching boats. 4. They basically do nothing of value. Come near my leather goods and I will stab you. Close 'em down, burn 'em down, whatever.
