OBX for sure. The state park campgrounds are usually deserted in September. I always rent houses though. In September you can rent a killer house and live in style for about $900 a week even less in October. You can bring the dog too.

prime 'cane month? it almost seems like you go there in hope to get hammered.

 

Never surfed Montauk, but fall seems to bring magic to Hatteras. Just hope its not 100mph worth of magic or parts of the yellow brick road will be missing.

 

OBX. Montauk has good waves, but it's part of the communist country called New York. A place where everything is overpriced, overtaxed, and an overall pain in the ass.

 

OBX would be my choice, KDH was awesome last I was there, would def. go back
