That "Town & Country 'Mini Gun'" thread got me thinkin that it's time for a "fahrarm" thread. Totally unrelated to surfing of course, but when did that ever matter?
While in college, I didn't surf, but spent a lot of time out on a makeshift range in the hills above San Luis Obispo, CA. Probably illegal now.

At first I sort of wondered how the young guy who narrated this Big Sandy shooting vid was going to work out, but he did all right.
Now, let's go shoot some sh*t...

i had a lar-15 made by rock river and threw about 2,000 into to with a e.o tech red dot, sling..ect. it was pretty sweet because the front sight post would co-laps, be careful getting into a gun addiction ive seen people throw 50k into arms rooms easy. ammo isnt cheap anymore. im thinking of buying a savage axis anyone ever shoot one?

I'm neutral on guns. I love them like some dudes like cars, at the same time, I think a world of bows and blades would be better to live in. That being said, I'd feel at a disadvantage without something like this.

NJ is still 15 rounds. 10 round bill was not signed by Christie.

hiya clemson surf - thanks that; do you think i'll have to do that cause its cheap (tasco) or cause it
will get bumped around by the ammo-boom such as .223?

this is true. but can't buy a 15 round mag anywhere. so its actually a 10 round law even though
you are of course correct about 15. which is how we make laws in new jersey.

Yeah, generally the cheaper ones don't have the components strong enough to stay zeroed after some abuse, a lot of rounds, etc. No way to know other than putting it through it's paces though. .223/.556 doesn't kick too bad but you can easily rattle off 30 rounds in seconds (look up bump firing). You might be able to get around it with some lock tite or something. A red dot will never give you the accuracy you'd get from a decent scope but it allows you to pick up the target faster and they look cool. I have on on my AR but it's coming off next time I get to the range. Deer season is here which means I can hunt hogs with large calibers.... Bo.

They're making it into populated areas. Same with the coyotes but the pigs cause much more damage. We hunt on 11 acres that connects to the Francis Marion National Forest. It gets pretty swampy back there with a lot of dried up river beds that make great wallows and there is plenty of food available. They travel in groups and life's good so they make a lot of babies. We've taken some big ones but they're too much work so going to try for nothing over 100 lbs this year. The season is year round but you have to match the gun to the season except on private land. I guess I could go year round but we usually stick to deer season.

My brother got this one a couple years ago on the same land we hunt. Got him right at sun down but didn't drop him so he had to track it for a while. Followed the blood trail and found him bedded down. Drew the .45 and walked slowly up and the pig charged when he was about 8-10 feet out. He unloaded the clip and dropped him a few feet closer. It took him a few hours to drag it out and we were up late dressing him out. Tasted good though. Sorry if anyone is offended by the graphic pic.

Something about this feels like it should be part of the Southern SI forum succession thread. I've got my granpa's old pheasant hunting guns. Never been out of the bag. Make love not war.
    I do love ham, though.
