I work in Internet Marketing, so I get it. But seriously, this is ridiculous. The ads on the sidebar and header are cool. This pop up that gets triggered every time I move to a new page, that I have to click to close, is overkill and super annoying. Please turn it off or change the setting to once when we first hit the site.
3rd, you took the words right out of my mouth. I was gonna post a thread about this. Moderator: do something. This is the single most annoying ad scheme that I've ever seen. Terrible. And I know if I click on the "X" they'll somehow get access to my SS#, bank account, etc. and my life will be ruined.
I agree it is annoying but why do we have one of these ad threads once a month now? In the last year we have had dozens of these. Obviously SI has some bills to pay. Bottom line is if you want SI to remain free deal with the damn ads!
Your right, bills need to be paid. But when 35% of a users screen is taken up by ads, it's frustrating. Especially on a forum that we are trying to scroll through and read. I click lots of the ads that pop for me on this site as I'm sure many of you do. But what's happening right now makes most users uncomfortable.
I know what you mean man. The worst with the Honda pop up is it comes up right when I'm going to click on the go to last post button and when the add pops up my mouse clicks it. I must have been to that Honda site now 10 times this morn.

I know, I was blown away by the meth thing too! He's an awesome surfer for sure. I always like Curren better though of the two TC's
pop ups have the opposite of the intended affect on me. it does not make me one to buy the advertised product, it makes me despise it and never go near it
