Not sure if this has been discussed. Tried to search for it but nothing showed up on the topic. I showed this to my 8th grade students. Most of them hated me for making them watch it but some of them appreciated it. This film takes me back in time. Not your typical surf film, which is why I love it. Great film, good music and a true pioneer. Great movie. Always wanted to get into kneeboarding but it's tough to find a board, especially in the northeast. When I was in the 7th grade my science teacher who happened to be a surfer showed us the endless summer. I was the only one actually watching. I felt kinda bad for him. Showing us one of his favorite movies and having barley anyone pay attention to it.
Hahaha. I teach science as well. Once I get to the ocean chapter of the textbook I have an excuse to show surf films in school.
Bro that film was excellent especially for the era when you consider the editing. Dude is a MacGuyver but his monotonous narration is probs what bored your students. What a bunch of nerds! For all the crap material in school and terrible films shown when a teacher actually does put one on, couldn't they have been visually stoked by barrell riding and beach life or do the commoner's eyes not absorb what ours do for aesthetics?
Just finished watching Part 1. Enjoyed it: Rincon (used to drive past it a lot), no leashes, beavertail wet suits, the guy's car (Dodge or Plymouth?), and the air mat (spent a lot of time riding waves on those as a kid) Thanks. ***** Finished Part 2. Good stuff. The guy's quite a skilled handyman. BTW, his car was a Dodge. ***** Watched Part 3 morning. Loved those long rides. Caught a nice male Sheephead at the end of the vid.
