Have you guys heard about the go pro mouth mounts. The mygo mount and the dummy mount. anybody have any preferences on these or heard of anything about them. i just purchased a dummy mount for $40 and I'm hoping i made the right decision
Sorry but anytime I see someone with the mouth mount I can't stop laughing and thinking what a fool that person looks like. To it's their own for sure, but it just looks so f'ing gay. Bet the same people like ball gags and all kinds of weird sh*t! Hahaha
No I was given a GoPro for my B Day a few years back and have never used it. I even had a fin plug installed on the nose but still couldn't bring myself to use it. Don't get me wrong, I would love some cool pics of myself surfing but just don't feel the desire to photo myself. I find my pic on websites sometimes, that's good enough for me, nothing special, just local photogs for surf report websites. Do your thing man, I see that pic was taken without using the ball gag mount, nothing wrong with it. It's the mouth mount you asked for feedback on I was talking about. But when I see dudes with a GoPro on a 1ft barely rideable day I just cringe.
The best footage I've seen has been with the mouth mounts. All the new barrel footage, like that Senegal wave, used them I'm sure. It's the most true to life POV there is IMO. DPS has a point though, you need something worth shooting in order for it to look good. With that being said, I've seen some of your stuff and I'm pretty sure you're on the west coast so that shouldn't be a problem.
yeah, you're right. When i first started getting into it i would bring it out all the time and get some dirty looks in the lineup when the waves were small. A few years have passed and I'd like to think that I'm a little bit better of a surfer and realize that more often than not it's a lot more fun to just be in the water with your friends and not have to worry about trying to get "the shot"
I hate the things... but the hand-held shots from the back hand, showing the surfer and tube in perspective is the shiz.
Yeah man, my buddy brought his out during Bertha, wave quality was worthy of a cam I guess but all he could do was focus on that thing, couldn't just enjoy the session, too worried about getting the shot that he forgot to just surf the wave and as a result didn't surf up to his full potential, he admitted this to me, he would forget to do certain things and would ruin the wave, then when he finally said F it and just surfed he got great rides. I think that's another reason I haven't used mine... I just wanna surf, be in the moment, not worry about some device to capture it for me.

DpSUP gets a free gopro and never uses it... someone buy this man a beer. Today a shredder-bro was being a competitive wavehog douche in waist high (at best) conditions, and I thought 'I should split his skull like DpSUP would'.... but then I just walked down the beach and surfed with one guy.
I wish to hell that a couple summertime "local" Deutsch canoes had those ball gag cams on. Then they wouldn't be able to call me off when I'm right on the damn peak and canoe buoy paddled right next to me, I'm talking inches away and we both take off then basically ride the wave down the line tandem on our stomachs because our boards were touching. Anywayz, what if you're in some gnar and you eat schitt with that thing on your grille? You can't even exhale properly while being spun. Is it possible to swallow the GoPro? I agree with LBCrew, the back hand held cam view is best. As for spogners, if they own the back hand held cam, do they use it as an anal mount? Shar**** has to. No question. Sarcasm mitch. This dude thought every wave was his and I was on the peak and dude paddled 20 yards over to get adjacent to me on the peak and thought I wasn't going to paddle for it when I had lined it up for minutes. No, the gopro wouldn't change any of that. A Deutsch is a Deutsch.
buddy in cali, his brother just started up a company and they make them ..... I agree you need minimal shoulder high day or else the waves look like little terds.. anyways I think they look gay but get the best footy.. and if you get self conscious about it catch a wave then take it out of your mouth and hold it.. simplr
guess i'm dinosauric but the old rule about accessories is be careful so (the wave) does not shove it up your (pick an orifice).
