he's insane. insane of all aspects of his life. his ice bucket challenge consisted of him getting in an ice water bath fully submerged in water -30F, and did it so nonchalantly. which he also does on the regular right after a 200F sauna session. also, camera guy creepin hardcore at the end of the clip...

The thing about Laird's shot vs. the 2nd vid (drone footage) is that Laird did it "in the pocket" & up on the wave vs. the other guy built up speed, dropped down from the wave and shot straight across in the "flat area". At least from my view, Laird's was much a more dicey "pier shotting". Plus, there is something to be said for careening through those tight quarters on a SUP. Both depict some nice surfing, though.
What is with the pier shooting obsession? Is that really not a common thing up and down this coast? No piers around here, so dunno. But every pier on the west coast gets shotting and raped on a daily basis. It's just a novelty.
I agree. I find it kinda stupid, "dare devil" and nothing to do with actual surfing...never been that desperate to stretch my ride out that much. I'm guessing piers are, generally, significantly larger on the west coast because of the frequency of massive winter swells. Therefore, the pylons are farther apart. Huntington pier, for example, is absolutely gigantic. However, not even all piers on the west coast can be shot due to antiquated, cramped pylon design.
Where's the guy in the beggining with the $99 Costco longboard going. I guess JOB got him amped on what they can do.
