The moray eels are nasty. So are the urchins. You will need some advanced urchin spine pickers with experience in the water.

Definately do not snake any of the locals...esp at places like Jobos...i have seen people get chased out of the water for calling off a local dropping in on someone. Other than that...watch your belongings and remember where you get in the water...get out at the same spot or you risk being an urchin magnet.

I too may be going to pr in mid-late march. I've never been and will be going with my girlfriend who does not surf. So my time in the water may be limited. I was looking for places at aguadilla Where are you staying at?

Are you going to fight your friend at the bar or expect your friend to save you?

Still wondering, "What is a "local" at a bar a visiting gringo surfer be at?"

That goes for not snaking bodyboarders as well. It is a different scene down in PR. You might pay dearly if you do... they call them reefs for a reason!

yea PR rules dude. Ive been to aguadilla twice and Im already in love with the place. The locals really arent to bad unless youre at a super crowded spot. Jobos can be bad at times. The last time I went there werent many urchins it was strange but just paddle out and you can avoid them. Puerto Rico is really chill and almost everyones nice, I played basketball with all of the local kids in one of the gyms by middles and the secret spot. But anyway have a fun time...

    Pr

I just got back from my third trip to PR. Try the west coast, Rincon is good for most abilities but check Aguadilla just up North. There are some affordable inns in Rincon and the food is great. You can rent stand-up paddle boards now too out of Rincon if it's flat, and snorkeling/scuba is great out there too. Swellinfo's right; drive around and don't get used to 1 spot. Be respectful to the locals... they live there. Have fun though!

HAHA... my bad... just didn't understand what you were trying to say with those posts... and yeah.. don't get in fights period.. good idea.

But it wasn't I who got in a fight.. one of my friends did because he was talking this girl and then of course, the 'locals' did not like, so **** went down. He was suppose to be there for 3 weeks but left after 3 days.. haha.
