its looking pretty nice size and clean right now im debating going down for Wednesday and Thursday. flagler or st auggy. it will probably be twice as big as south Carolina. plus they have low tide breaks but I would have to put off my 4wd being fixed. do you have to have 4wd for the beaches in st.auggy I don't want to get stuck in the soft pack, I just went mudding yesterday with out it, hemis are amazing. but ive looked all around outter banks looks blown out this week but has some size might see a few clean up day. jersey looks okay but I aint driving to jersey for a 5 foot waves. where will yall be surfing or traveling for this swell, only reason I ask because its been flat as **** since the last cane. I know yous guys are wave staved. where are some awesome low tide breaks around st auggy, Ive been all over there but only surfed a street and by the pier. I think vilano is a low break, im just to lazy to look them up so don't give me **** for that. im just trying to bring my Carolina cutbacks to florida.
No waves here, keep them cutbacks in Carolina! Just kidding... but Vilano is high tide and solid swell only. No 4wd needed (I drive my wife's Audi sedan on beaches in North Florida). Since you are driving from SC, there are options just as good, if not better, to the north of Auggie. Long period swell + low tide =closeouts. Adjust plans accordingly.
YOU TALKING ABOUT poles or jacks beach? jacks looks like a kook fest every vid I watch is 80 droping in on one another
everywhere will be a kookfest to some degree. Its been flat-ish for 2 weeks. However with E swell, everywhere will have waves and been roughly the same with the exception of a standout E swell spot or two (check those Florida state parks ... not giving those away...don't be lazy... do a 5 minute check of surfline Noflo spot characteristics). Everywhere will have pockets of time with empty lineups... tend to be late morning/ early afternoon where folks have gorged them selves and are taking a break.
Check out Amelia Island/Fernandina Beach. Wide open beach. Access all over the place. It was lined up pretty nicely when I was there a few months ago at low tide. 2 hours on the dot from my door step on HHI to the beach there. If I was you, that is where I would go. ohh, and the water is crystal clear.
Hey Stranded, are you hinting at Palm Tree Point? Havent been there in years not sure if its still good. You think it would be lining up better at Poles?
Not familiar with that one, but then again I'm not from here... was thinking more along the lines of the notorious and oft photographed (did you see the Bertha spread from this months Void), but seldom mentioned by name, not at all a secret "secret" spot. Poles is always a solid bet.
cant drive on st Augustine beaches. I would look further south. a place without such an eastward facing shoreline (nearly impossible) but exist. try new Smyrna, satellite bch, south Patrick shores, etc..smaller crowds, good vibe. closeouts will be a given anywhere. just fly your union jack, spit some tobaccy and all will be well
Stranded I was referring to Talbot Island aka Palm Tree Point. Are you referring to North Jetty? If not I cant imagine where. If its not so "secret" maybe you could tell me where? Im jusy trying to figure out where it will be lining up better and not closing out so much.
I know where I'm going to go and it wont be 2nd light, but if you do go to 2nd. light, you will see that dreaded white van there...be scared, very scared.
Thinking of playing hookey for a few hours. N Jetty will be crowded. Do you think Walton Rocks is too far south to catch the swell?
Yea, the jetty will be packed, I will be down in the bowl area, breaks just as good and minus all the pro's, do you know where I'm talking about? Walton rocks may be a little smaller but it will still be good...dive shallow my friend
