I'm 6'-1\" tall, weigh about 230 pounds (little overweight). Prone rider. My current 42\" crescent tail board comes up to my belly button, but it's a cheap board (SurfRide surf shop in-house brand) and I sometimes have a hard time catching waves on it. I live in SoCal so most waves I ride are between 2ft and 5ft. I am thinking of getting a 43\" bat tail. Any thoughts on the best board for me?

Get a "big guy" board... Nearly every bodyboard brand has one. 44-46 inches, thicker and wider than the usual board. should be perfect for you. DON'T get a drop knee or stand-up board.

Best board for the best price would be http://www.amazon.com/BZ-Bruddah-Bo...F8&qid=1411088972&sr=8-1&keywords=big+bruddah

Polypropylene core is best. (DOW core is bad... just stay away)
Surlyn slick is best. (HDPE/HD/HDPP core is ok, but surlyn is a lot better)
    Deck isn't too important.

    Good luck.

Go to ebodyboarding.com and look at their selection of "big guy" boards. The owner, Jay, is very helpful and can help you select a good board. You also might want to consider getting a custom made board.

If you can still find them, get a Waveskater.
I've been riding the same one for years. It would float me with speed when I was a fat fu€k at 260. Now at a still fat 220 it's rediculous.
The 45" should be the right one.

Yeh, I got duped when I went in then noticed it was in the Global BB Talk forum. But yeh. Better etiquette would have made the subject matter obvious... I had relevant info so no wasted time...

lol it's funny when people don't just use the all discussions viewing option that most seem to. This would've weeded it out for me! Then again, not everyone posts in the right forum heading. If there was a category "Wahines" I would put every damn tread in it.

How can I put this nicely.... Lose some weight. It will increase your wave riding abilities dramatically.

Yes, bro. Right on. I'm no chubster, but I am conscious now more than ever of bodyweight management as every pound matters not only for paddling and catching waves but also maneuverability. Surf shape every day bro.

What kind of waves do you spend most of your time riding? If it's mostly fast hollow waves, a 43" board would be good, or you could stick with a 42" board. A Dow core can be good for hollow waves. If you mostly just cruise on softer waves you might benefit from a bigger board and a polypro core. Wave Skaters are fun, but in my experience don't ride much like a boogie, they're pretty rigid so it's more of a paipo type of feeling.

    Hey Chadillac_80,

Hit up JoJo at Custom X. They are located right here in Oceanside and are having an end of year sale on 11 Oct. Like them on FB for details. You can also get a custom board made; no extra cost!
