Just saw this happen on the cam. What in the world is this?!?! See it breaking out there? This is on the surfline cam if you want proof.
Its not an artificial reef. Its the inlet shoals where deposits of sand have collected. The rail cars are miles offshore in 50' of water
They Wild Lyfe crew should take a ski out there the next big swell and check it out. That would be sick to see in a vid....
shoals are sandbars been there. done that. 20 years ago... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Xb3jZTDFgb8 This is a single wave shot on a shoal/bar somewhere on the southern end of DELMARVA. It's apprx. 5 miles from land. It's mushy so if your going to do step offs, take a super small board. Logging it, is more fun. SUP, even better. If your scared to paddle out, that means your just a coward, and your weak, so stay home and leave these waves alone. There has to be zero mph of wind, or gets wonky and there is no recipe for what makes these shoals tick & tock, except that lower tides will grab the bottom and stand up the walls. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Xb3jZTDFgb8 BTW...same fish out there that are in the shorey. No matter what ocean you are in anywhere in the world, your within 30 seconds of a shark. And, The Backwoods crew, chase barrels, not mush burgers. These types of dreamy soft waves, and I'm being DEAD HONEST, happen once every 2-3 years because the amount of luck involved to get it right. Let your search begin.
I have been skunked at OCMD and seen these peelers offshore many times. Always wanted to explore and see what was up. I would imagine from the number of times I saw perfect lines offshore that one could score these sort of regularly.
