Anyone remember that piece of SJB folklore, where out of frustration due to gale force offshores, and paddling like mad while mumbling to himself, he said f it and made the long paddle to Africa?
ok...well you know.....i have never surfed anywhere w/blasto gusts AND SURF li' dat... adds another level to 'backside air-drop'....ever (successfully) hold onto a backside air drop w/your pinky toe...nail?
Once we took a skateboard to a church parking lot on a Saturday so it was empty. It had a mount for a sailboard rig, and it was blowing 30 plus. When you pulled the sail close to your body, it was like jumping on an accelerator. Talk abooot flying! You had to get to the edge of the pavement and bail into the grass to stop the ride. Out of control.
Do it Seldom. Welcome to SI Windskating team! Our motto shall be: "With the wind at our backs and the salt in our lives" The other day I was skating down the boardwalk to check breaks, I had my board in a bag and swung it behind me like a sail. I think the wind was only maxing out at 15/20, but it still pushed me along the boardwalk gingerly. It's actually looking very fun at the right spots today...
On it! Dude, coming down for that show on 11/1 for sure, I will PM you the details. #winskatingsaltlifeFTW
