Most, if not all of us have been pinned to the ocean floor after taking off deep on this "bomb". Most of the time you dont know its coming so theres no time for a deep breath before you're tumbling on the sandbar. What do you swellies do and or think about when you're under water without air. I just kinda mellow out and dont move too much, and all I think about is how sick that wave woulda been.
Same....and def been pinned to the bottom, at a considerable depth years ago...I came up gasping for air...def a humbling experience when your a newb
Relax. Let Mother Ocean have her wicked away with you. When the energy passes, head towards the light...
Def recommend what huorr said, just relax, struggling burns oxygen too quick. Wait for it to pass and climb your leash if you have to, lol

Always the same. At first I'm all like ahhh relax no biggie, calm and mellow. Then as some time passes I'm like ok this sucks but it's all good. Then it very quickly goes into the panic phase. I flail and come up gasping. Every damn time
i don't know about the whole climbing the leash thing,i don't think iv been in water any deeper than 8ft on the biggest day, usually while ur tumbling u can touch the bottom its so shallow but rarely ever hit the bottom.i think its fun, just not fun when the waters 38degrees.i call it riding the under water wave.regardless ur riding it on the surface or underneath, all in good spirits
Not to sound like any kind of charger - I'm most assuredly not - but I thought the same thing until I wiped out on a wave in Indo (I'd call it 12 foot+ biggest wave I've ever tried to take off on and wasn't able to stick the drop). I just kept getting rolled and spun and roiled around near the bottom and finally some tiny kernel of instinct told my little brain gadget to grab at anything because the hold down wasn't abating, and the only thing to grab was my leash and it led upwards! Never had to do it since.
