Has anyone had any luck yet? with the water being so warm in Monmouth County i haven't seen many birds working or big bait balls. picked up a bunch of bluefish lately but who cares right?

Bait balls have been rolling through here pretty deep last 3 weeks. Here is VB when I say here but it doesn't always mean VB when you see here on my profile for SwellInfo. I can tell you more if you would like in a 263 page diatribe called "Here, It Is Where I Am Now."

When Montauk heats up they're on their way but still a few weeks away. Buddies doing well on Choptank River shallows with top water plugs before sun rise, scored a 31 incher yesterday.

Plenty of bait but not bass aren't heating up yet. Had a few plugging in the bay last week, but found nothing on the outside except blues on the bunker... Another week or two it should get going.

he's talking about big pipe. if you fish around here and don't know about that outflow pipe i can't help you and neither can a flyer.

Still to warm in ocean country for them to migrate in my opinion was yaking the other day tho and spotted a 5-7ft bull within a yard from me and not even 50 yards offshore. Damn well had to triple wash my board shorts after that

Yep. The guys who are really catching fish consistently have no lives, real jobs, significant others, etc. They are fishing in the middle of the night like 3-4 times a week. I love to fish, but that s h i t is crazy.

i have a buddy that fishes the manasquan train bridge in the middle of the night religiously and ALWAYS catches fish. i don't have the patience or ability to pull an all nighter for some fish. give me birds working at dusk and i'm totally cool with it.

first time I went fishing by myself,on Halloween many years ago I caught a nice sized striper,i didn't know what to do with it when I got it on the sand.i threw my towel in the backseat and put the fish on it and took it to my father in law since hes the fish guy.best Halloween ever, best part was the 30 other guys fishing not catching anything.yea waters still warm,i went swimming yesterday water was pretty friken warm for this time of year or maybe my fat is starting to insulate me.late October they'll start biting up here in monmouth

agreed. i tip my hat to those hardcore guys. they're just, like, hardcore and whatnot. they also study the ocean, even more than surfers. it takes years and years of studying and trial and error to become a consistent surf fisherman.

I beg to differ,i usually go out around 2 am,im not hardcore,im a kook at fishing, but I still catch some.my father in law is a wizard of hunting and fishing, hes in his 70s and I imagine been fishing for atleast 65 years.if u seen him on the beach u would probably beat him up,he throws all the garbage into the ocean casually, which I go pick it up afterwards.theres a garbage 15 ft away.he sucks on the clams before we hook em,says they taste like p***sy,hes very loud, obnoxious, and rude, but hes pretty funny.most of the time we just make fun of him.

the fishing at night thing,my pops in law claims we are catching the incoming tide,i don't believe him.he does know his shyt tho as far as fishing before, during, and after storms which fish will be present.

Gotta wait for a little while yet- water is too warm. Might be able to catch a local short or something... But the run has not started in full swing yet. Still a few more weeks. Keep your ears open for reports from montauk- then after that we get it...

There are some good spots in The inlet that's closer to your house. Behind the apartments. Usually fish start in there sooner at night.

Yea I agree - night fishing can be really good... Much better sometimes then day. Specially if there are no visa le pods of bunker around...

Been fishing fairly regularly in the suds, and so far no bass. Two weeks ago some weakfish... last week some blues... but no bass yet at all. The guy who keeps his boat next to mine got into some out in the bay last weekend, up to 20 lbs. But that's not uncommon with late summer water temps.
