Andino, Jordy, Buchan, Zietz, Brett Simpson.....

I mean, the whole tour is fun to watch. It's kind of splitting hairs, but those are the ones, in addition to JJF that I like to watch. Slate is still #1 in my book, so I didn't even mention him, or Taj or Mick or Joel.... Those guys kinda go without saying. I have never been a fan of the Aussies attitudes. They have the same patriotic vibes as the Brazzos, but hot damn can those aussie boys surf.... They all grew on me because they kill it in the water, they have great style and from listening them post heat, they are perfect gentlemen.

Its personal preference. Its a style thing. If you work so hard at killing a wave and making it look insane, finish it with class and grace. That's all. My approach to celebration in sport has always been a quiet one. You hit a deep three pointer in someones face. Sprint back and get on defense. Let the crowd cheer. Keep a straight face. Stay focused and when the next time out happens, let your coach pat you on the back and have your team mates all give you the fist bump. Let the crowd cheer as you come to the side.... Don't sit there after you hit a shot and trot down the court backwards throwing your hands up.... Just not my style and I respect those in the professional ranks that compete with class.

It's like comparing Yasiel Puig to Derek Jeter. Most people in baseball and the fans hate Puig, because he comes from a cuban culture that drops bats too slow, claims home runs when they hit them, piss off the pitchers... So it's guys like Puig that get plucked all the time when they come up to bat.... No one cares that the Cubans do it differently... You act like a punk, claiming your shots when you get a hit, someone is going to throw at your dome, because you are being a punk about it..... Classy guys like Jeter, Ripken, any of them would never be caught dead acting like that.

    Good point with Puig/Jeter...

But you say you you like Jordy and Andino. They claim as much as anyone on tour. And not for 10's, more like 6's and 7's.

Yeah they do... In almost every heat.
Jordy actually did an interview in Surfing (April 14) and said he thinks everyone should claim more. Said it shows that you care.

Haha. I actually can't stand Medina. He seems like a douche.

I'm just saying people hate on him for certain things, but like others that do the same thing... Zach is honest at least. He hates him because he's Brazilian.

The few mins I can scrape aside to view contest highlights or surfing vids in general I just never gravitate towards Medina. His surfing just doesn't inspire me. I can appreciate it on a technical level, but it just doesn't get my motor running. He's an excellent technical surfer, but just seems stale. Plenty of other guys on the tour (or not on tour) that I get fired up watching.

    This inspires me:

    This does not.

I'm not a fan of his style. I like watching strong power surfing with huge carves. I actually really only watch free surfing videos because that is where I see the best surfing. I could care less about these contests. I like watching surfing not competitive surfing.

And the talk about fixing the contests is crazy talk. Now other sports where billions are bet on a game, that is a different story.
