VB has 12 surfshops if you count coastal edge twice, s&a and Pungo, include Juice Box and RK's. That's a lot of boards, so following that they sell some of them, there is bound to be a few people on it when it's up (crappy or slightly better than crap). The reason we don't see a lot of surfers during the winter months is because for the fortunate, they can afford to fly to PR, Azores, Barbados, South America and HI and crowd up their breaks. And ofcourse the guys that can't take the cold stay out. Regardless, there are crowds everywhere so to get bent out of shape over it is futile.

    Foreigners. Check this out.
Maybe someone can chime in on this.
NH seacoast is LOADED with french (possibly french canadian) and German surfers. Not half bad either. Pair of dreads speaking french, not creole. Dudes could absolutely rip. Not saying you don't see folks of African lineage on the beach, but these dudes surfed like they've been doing it since they were in the womb. I know montreal is waaay too far from any surfable break for them to be this experienced. I am aware of how France can get wave wise (dead serious obviously). Just wouldn't expect them to end up here. Huge groups of french speaking folk. And ze Germans, they weren't half bad either. Frenchies wouldn't socialize with anyone, Germans were super friendly though. Chatted it up with us for a while.

This one really annoys me because no one on this thread is a PROFESSIONAL surfer--local sponsorship does not count --Which means that we are all HOBBIIST and having fun doing a awesome activity so relax and let a dude catch a wave--there will be others.

The only etiquette I expect to see is that beginners stay out of the lineup and if you are in it, look over your shoulder for the other guy before you dig in. Other than that, have a party!

Get off the internet and READ THIS BOOK

the amount of good content that goes unnoticed in threads because of a bunch of nerds arguing and acting like tough guys is the sole reason for the place to be perceived by many as a kookfest.

It's hard to realize how little some have to contribute to the act of surfing. There is a ton of good stuff out there for our viewing/reading pleasure but this place continues on the desperate housewives landslide. Dramatic, annoying, and makes otherwise cool people look like a bunch of d-bags.

What Junior doesn't realize is that most really talented surfers aren't sonsored or pro, they just surf for the love of it and have a different profession or way to make a living. So many unknown dudes that are as good or better than pros that nobody has ever heard of. It's not about getting paid in this way of life, it means more than that to most who "get it". Respect goes a long way, ego will only get in the way.

This thread made my lunch that much more enjoyable.

If the 4K post guy and Gaf get together it will make my head explode. I need pictures.

    Word Zach!
Surfed all last week and saw very little aggression. Did see some kookery but it was harmless. Had a guy drop in on me and he said "didn't think you could make it" and apologized. I just laughed and said now you know.

    Only on the internet.

Real life: Guy drops in, nothing is said, nothing happens.
Internet: Guy drops in, gets stabbed with a tomahawk and then eaten by a shark.

So true, most dudes don't have the sack to say or do anything. I'm pretty forgiving unless it's clearly a sign of disrespect. Once it's obvious it was intentional words are had, but nobody has ever stepped or back talked me, most surfers are sissies
