It is pretty funny how many of you started out with, "I don't eat fast food, but...." LOL While we are talking $hit food, lets throw in Jack in the Box!
I don't eat fast food too often, but certain places have things I like:
    McDonald's - Fries
    Wendys - Spicy Chicken Sandwich
Taco Bell - Double Decker Taco, plain taco is good, too
    Bojangles - Cajun Filet Biscuit
    Burger Fling - Whopper jr

    And yadda yadda

I've been through the nutritional debate on this forum before so I don't wish to go into detail, but the statement that you need to eat meat to obtain daily nutritional requirements for good health or optimal sports performance is false. I'll give you a few names of top athletes who don't eat flesh foods. Multiple Olympic Gold Medalist Carl Lewis and Men's Journal Top 25 most fit athletes Rich Roll are two examples.

As far as the food pyramid goes the US government wrote it and coincidentally the meat and dairy industry lobby govt with millions of $$$$ every year.

Actually the food pyramid was written by Sweden... But your point is correct. USDA altered it to appease food industry big wigs

Until 03, I've been in every wendy's from the OBX to the N side of Billsville Va. They finally asked my company to quit sending me because I'd chastise them for the way they keep their perishables and the filthiness of their food processing equipt. The final straw was when I had to fix a griddle. They places a mop bucket under the drippings spout. it was almost full and still under the unit. After it was moved, I crawled under it and determined what the problem was. As I was going out to the truck I caught a glimpse of my face in the front window. I looked like the guy in "Something about Mary". I had a giant glob of goo hanging off the side of my face. I got some safety glass', a rag for my face and plastic wrap for my torso. Evidently they didn't appreciate my mutterings on how Dave Thomas was rolling in his grave.

Arby's is beef jelly off the truck.

Subway is usually owned by 3rd world diaperheads with no sense of cleanliness. Definitely don't get the fountain drink.

McDumpsters doesn't have the golden tombstones as an emblem for nuttin'.

:) c'mon Brew. You get my point so stop it already. Pointless argument on word play. What about the 30 year olds almost croaking from heat disease? Only to end up endlessly in the doctors office on multiple meds and maybe a surgery or two or the 40 year old stroke victim who didn't die but now is paralyzed on on side of hos body. or the type 2 diabetic who is on multiple meds mever getting better slowly goin blind, facing amputation of their feet, and can't get an erection bc of the meds. Damn that sure don't sound like LIFE to me that sounds like a very slow and painful death.

I agree that some junk food a handful of times a year ain't gonna hurt ya, but for the majority of Mericans it's a daily regimine.

I guess i'll chime in on the healthy vs. fastfood. The way I look at it, people have a choice. You know its healthier to eat a grilled chicken breast vs. 6 Taco Bell tacos. So if you choose to eat those Tacos and end up getting heart disease, it's your choice. Same with smoking, drinking, crack, etc. If you get sick from over endugling, it was your choice. Sorry if this sounds heartless or whatever, but it is what it is. I know its dangerous to play in the road, so if I go and play in the road and you hit me, it's no one's fault but my own. But, I am sure, someone out there will find a way to blame you! LOL

Actually, since 1992 there was an accepted modified USDA food pyramid that shows alternatives to meat and dairy.

No one in food/health science, including the FDA/USDA, claims you have to eat meat and drink milk anymore. Yes, it was lobbied back in the day. To be fair to the gov, the science behind daily nutrition was not up to par 50 years ago. We are still learning about how the body uses different forms of nutrition. Thus, many studies have shown that not all proteins are created equal. That is why downing protein supplements is often not as effective as consuming foods high in protein. It should be noted that the gov doesn't use a food pyramid anymore. This is the new symbol:

Same... Only when I'm traveling and run out of other options. If I had to choose, it would probably be Taco Bell.
