WTF is a Surf Mat???

    He was nice, joked around a lot, had respect for others in the lineup, his woman dropped in behind him and end up on his back (literally) and they rode the wave tandem, which was hilarious to see, just having fun I guess.

    i just looked up that website. those mats are 370 us dollars! thats insane!

    Yeah that's a lot for what it is, which seems like nothing more than a little pool raft that isn't inflated to full capacity, but i'm sure the construction is a lot more durable to handle the surf. I bet if they catch on the price could come down due to higher volume, but don't know if that'll ever happen. I still would much prefer my surf boards, but to it's their own.

    Seems crazy, but those are custom mats, and the market for them is very very limited. 4th Gear Flyer mats are handmade in the US (by Paul Gross), and I believe they start at $139. Still not cheap, but I have one that is going on 6 years old and has only gotten better.
