Dat braddah was leading the ROTY14 (Rookie) chase by a long shot then has been gone for nearly two weeks. He get hired at Waffle House or what? Maybe he got pitted and never made it out.

At least Doug resurfaced eventually. Where's metard?

He's on a month long Indonesian boat trip with no internet access. (At least that's what I'd say if and when I came back)

I am about to make a slight career change, leading to far less keyboard time... So, maybe I will take up the "Ghost of Metard" and keep my posts to 10 words or less.

    Everyone, you are welcome.

Back to my roots. I have been working with movie studios and some feature films for the last 9 months or so. Last week, I was given a pretty ridiculous financial offer and package to take over operations of the busiest restaurant complex and marina on Hilton Head. When I broke the news just today, my current company is bending over backwards to come up with more money and stuff. It really has been touching, not to get all sentimental. Its been a stressful couple weeks. Had a lot on my plate and a lot of tough decisions to make for my family and future. It just sucks, cause the people that work for me and the people I work with are amazing. Super fun. Super talented, laid back crew, but our business is stressful. The president is even talking to me about handing over the company to me in a couple years, and as crazy and fun as this is, it's not what I do really. He just seems to think I am very good at it. But I also see him working 7 days a week, always on the road, always crunching numbers, just grinding 24/7, so that is a little daunting too. If you can believe it, the movie and event business is even more stressful than running restaurants. So, it's kind of a heart break regardless of what I do, but the decision is made pretty much

I have a comp sci degree, but through surfing and random other acts of life, running restaurants became my passion and a way to keep me in the water, so I have missed it. And when I got a call from these particular people, I had to listen. The basically own the industry on the island and want to give me the keys to the Porsche. Multiple restaurants, retail stores, boats. This is a somewhat small town, so it's not every day that an opportunity as such comes along. And it's not all about money. But with a wife and 3 year old daughter, I put them first. Money doesn't buy happiness, but it certainly makes life a lot easier.

Such is life boys. Such is life. I'll keep you posted.

Ohh, and the backstory to all this is, the restaurant I moved here to open has been held up on courts because last fedbruary, we had some bad leaks and the landlord and my investor couldn't work out a deal to accept responsibility, so it has been in and out of court, inches from making a deal, but the owner of the building is notorious in this area for just working people through the courts. He got $30 Million from the county back in 1998 for them interfering with him opening the restaurant the original time. He is imfamous around here, so back in Feb, when things started going south, I had to move on to some other things. The investor still wants to re-open, but I have witnessed so much bad kharma over there, that I really want nothing to do with it, even if things are resolved. I don't ever want to see the owners again, because I just hate them. I wouldn't operate a business that they receive any amount of money for, just off principal.

And round and round we go.

    Thanks man. I appreciate it.

Ill still be "in the lineup" here often, I just might have to keep my verbosity to a minimum. Well, try at least. If there is such a category on the swellies, I would assume I have "long winded", "verbose", "generally annoying" etc. locked up, so a couple months of short posts shouldn't affect my status there.

    Slide on boys.

And when a couple decent movies drop next year, along with the gayest movie of 2015, you can look back and be like, I know the guy that helped design all those sets.

Film and television industry sucks. Event industry, even dumber. No matter how much people make, they still aren't happy. Your productivity on earth contributes to garbage films and shows that will disappear from the collective human memory in a matter of months. No matter how much management says they like you, they wont shed a tear when they replace you- there's thirty bodies waiting to take your position at the drop of a hat.

The Unions are corrupt (at least half of their members are technically competent). Drug abuse, alcoholism, adultery, and sexual harassment are rampant. Thanks to the soul-crushing standard 80-hour work week, multiple failed marriages are common. Half of the people are only in the business because they fell into it, and being remotely competent human beings, they excelled. The other half are either incompetent products of nepotism, vapid fanboys, or both.

Finally, I understand how you have so much time to post. That industry is good for posting, and traveling, but if you've got wife and a kiddo clone .... and a soul .... run. Run as fast as you can.

    Congratulations Zach.

As far as less verbosity from me. We can all have dreams you know.
