    thanks for reading.

i have 2 boards; 6'-1"long by 21.37" wide by 2.87" thick 41L vol rusty dwart vs. Fletcher Chouinard 6'-10" long 21.1" wide by 2.7" thick. so, probably similar volumes.

i surf the often terrible northeast (so no 23 footers). Currently, i only ride the dwart, so my question is, under what swell would i want to try the FCD over the Rusty?

i need to get patagonia to sponsor me so advice is welcome.

What advices is dis braddah looking for? We know nothing bouts da OP's size and weight or skill level to prescribe da right stick. If he's in the NE then he doesn't have to worry bouts surfing anything these days. Patagonia sucks plus I didn't think they made boards. If they did made boards they would suck too! All the prep kids would be paddling out on em if they did exist.

That stupid volume number has a lot of peope confused. If it is close to the same volume then I should be able to catch waves the same, turn the same, yada yada. You can't forget the bottom curve. That dwart is flat and short, the Patty might be bowed up pretty well. Pick your board for the conditions, if it has some thump out there and some curve in the face you might want to ride that Pat. Another thing, if the board has some length you will have to move around (forward and back) especially on a flat face. Take that Patagroanya to PR and I bet you might learn to like her for what she is intended for.

Those sticks are pretty sweet actually, made in Ventura, CA if I'm not mistaken. Very clean shapes mostly geared to slightly older dudes and not so much for 14 yr. olds. The ones that I have seen are extruded polystyrene/ epoxy with wood stringers and are very hard to dent and ding.

The key to surfing the Patagucci is to eat granola, date a girl with a bush, and drive a VW, Subie, or Volvo.

If you or your parents don't have money, it wont float you. Thats just science right there. Patagucc doesn't use volume, but instead they measure the purchasing power of your household X the number of black or yellow labs you have owned in the last 7 years. Also a beard and a soft spoken voice will get you going in bigger surf. That's the trick to getting any Patagucci gear to work.

I had a sick 6' 10" bonzer made by patagonia that I had to sell in PR to extend my stay for a incoming swell that I timed wrong about 10 yrs ago. It liked the juice but didn't really work well in weak surf.

So patagonia sucks because prep kids wear it? Or because they are on the leading edge of a sustainable business model geared towards consumers? Im not sure what you are trying to do here, emass, however I am surprised that someone as well traveled as yourself is this ignorant.

Fletcher Chouinard is Yvon Chouinards son, who founded Chouinard Iron works in Ventura, which was sold and redeveloped as Black Diamond equipment, specializing in alpine hard goods. Patagonia Clothing was a spin off from Chouinard Iron works, and upon Yvon's entrance into business he envisioned a change in the way business was run.

Developing climbing gear that left less impact on natural rock face than the Hammer in pitons that were popular in the 60's-80's... he took this vision into the clothing patagonia creates, sourcing materials from sustainable farms, striving to create a truly sustainable business model.

Fletcher, following in his fathers footsteps, is a surfer, shaper, and businessman. Fletcher Chouinard Designs is his shaping company, which are shaped in the on scene at the Great Pacific Iron works where Chouinard Equipment was founded.

Next time you have some truly ignorant comment to make, make sure you do your research first. Whenever I hear people inside or outside the outdoor industry calling it patagucci, or saying its for preps, I take a step back and realize how ignorant our world is. We all enjoy the outdoors, but we **** all over it by supporting companies that are strictly profit based and do absolutley noting to sustain the very thing that keeps them in business.

Go ahead support the companies that make cheap **** that you can throw away at the end of the day, or that could give a **** less if the cotton woven into their t-shirts was picked by a family bringing in 4 dollars a week, at least you can buy another wetsuite next season for 100 bucks cheaper.

    Hang on meow...

I own Patagucci gear. Proudly. I wear tons of the stuff. I climb rock, ice, and mountains in it, and its top class. I wear it around the house. I was rocking a GPI shirt yesterday. Dang, I even wore an R3 to the diner this morning. And I buy into the mission. Patagonia makes the best functional outdoor clothing around, hands down. And they have amazing flannels. They have a lot of integrity as a company in that they will fix stuff that comes unseemed years later. They are top class, and they know it. And I bet they dont mind having their balls busted.

For me it becomes "Patagucci" when the flatlanders drop $300 on a nano puffy for a weekend at Killington. Don't get me wrong, there is absolutely nothing wrong with wanting to own good, comfortable, efficient clothing. I get that. But seeing soccer moms wearing primo gear that I can barely afford gets me agg. Its boutiquey. Mountaineering is a rich mans sport for sure. Guys like me take guys like them up mountains. And I get that Patagucc might have to sell at top dollar to those cats for their business model to work, and guys like me have to wait in line to get it at the year end clearance, or get a backdoor pro deal. I get it. Doesn't mean I like it.

Btw bro there are several other cats ripping on this company here other than me. Have a good Sunday.
