Here in Jersey it is starting to get cold. I need a new 5/4 and this season is coming faster than I thought. I have heard good reviews on the Billabong Xero Furnace. I'm thinking about that or a Rip Curl flashbomb. Please leave any thoughts below.
when i was 12 i would go fishing on the lake around the golf course in my hood. there was a girl with downs or palsy or some sh!t who would see us fishing and come running out with her zebco 404. she would pull her shorts down and point to her junk with the damn bobber and hook flying all around. hope that helps
Drylock was awesome the first season & 1/2 the second. Now, it seems to marinate pretty quickly. Gets heavier & colder. Still a good suit, but not what it once was. Ordered an O'Neill. Shall see, soon.
Wetsuites. Wetsuites. When you spot swell worth anyone yapping about again, that's when these wetsuite threads go into remission.
I had the E4 flashbomb at 5/4, tried it twice, and did not like it as much as my Bodyglove Vapor 5/4/3, which served me well for 3 seasons before it started to leak too much to keep me warm. The flashbomb was about as warm as that old suit, and leaked just as much water. Was not impressed, especially considering the money. Fortunately, I shucked it on craigslist without taking too much of a hit. I just picked up a new BG Vapor X 5/4/3 and am hoping that holds up as well as my old one. It seems like they added some tech to it, so i'm hopeful it will be even better. I think the biggest advantage that my old Vapor (and hopefully new) has over the newer Flashbomb was the outer 'vapor' skin that really shed the water. Less water on the outside of the suit meant less evaporative cooling. The flashbomb was really quick drying inside though. Best advice, once you find a suit that fits well and keeps you warm, stick with it in the future.
theyre all good. The best suit for me is oneil, hands down. I knew as soon as I put it on. I have a weird body shape and everything else fit weird.
I think when it comes down to it- it's really the fit and sizing and price. As long as your buying a major name brand that is sealed- you should be good with your suite. It's when you start rocking the ronjon 5/4 that your going to get cold... Check out seshday.com - they got good deals from time to time for suite Btw- what is the proper pernunciation of 'suite'???
Ive always been partial to Xcel or Hyperflex . I've had good results with both and you can get them rather cheap on Whiskey Militia
This is true in re: deals on WhiskeyMilitia. But after 2 hours in the drink, my Excel (standard suite and the Drylock suite) picks up so much water it's like I've added 20 lbs. Ok, granted, now I know how chucka-boo-boo feels but it seems an excessive amount of ocean to be wearing.
Jim that'll probably go quicker on here with a price drop. The Swellers are savvy buyers and the outlets have drastically reduced prices on previous year 5/4 and 4/3 suites brand new (with tags). Just looking to help your sale along bro. Haven't seen guys here spend much on a used board or suite really ever.
Ok. I'm the serious type. Sometimes, at least. Howzit for $5.29? You pay me that for disposing of your kooksuite. Deal? Super.
I am thoroughly impressed with oneill's pyrotech. I'm 5'10 190 and the fit is perfect. Does anyone own a psychofreak? it seems to be the super high end from oneill.. but I don't think they sell many.
Picked up a BG vapor. Toasty. 5' 10" 180lbs built. I wear a medium in it, fits mint. My experience in suites is limited, but it's an Effin nice suite. I'll agree with the statement above about the vapor, water pours off it in a hurry. So far, it's seriously warm. We'll see once it drops below 39.
