i don't support ISIS. thats kind of a wack assertion. what i was complaining about was the nyt's behavior. remember, you can't push a cause by tooting your own horn. slander well-done is infinitely more effective.
MY SAVIOR, just like MichaelJR, puts real effort into his trolling. I like how they don't break character.
I am well aware of the destructive power of the livestock industry. But my chart is just fine. Electricity production still remains as the highest contributor to greenhouse gases. And as an energy user, you are contributing to this. Step down off your pedestal, you are no better than the omnivores. http://www.eia.gov/energyexplained/index.cfm?page=electricity_in_the_united_states http://www.eia.gov/energyexplained/index.cfm?page=environment_where_ghg_come_from
Baddy, this is how its done. You cant have honest discourse about the only apartheid state in the world if you did, the apartheid-ists would be seen for the carnivorous monsters they are its easier to make up lies and assertions and spin them to seem virtuous but heaven forbid honest logical discussions....
I guess the UN and US Gov reports are false then. Also nowhere in your links do they factor in livestock farming and also it's for the US only which only produces 25% of the worlds beef. You haven't factored in pork, dairy, and lamb among other things all of which India and China hold the #1 spots in these. Another FACT: 2200 gallons of water are used to produce 1 quarter pound hamburger. Equivelant to 2 months of daily showers for one person. I guess I'll stop bathing too since I'm guilty. I don't consider myself better than anyone else, I'm just stating the facts of how our choices impact the GLOBAL enviornment. Like I said bacon lovers will defend themselves to no end even if they are wrong.
Please show where I am wrong. I read all your links, and found nothing to back up your statement that livestock is the biggest GHG contributor in the world. An no, my links aren't only accounting for the USA. This is for the whole world: http://www.epa.gov/climatechange/ghgemissions/global.html Energy Supply (26% of 2004 global greenhouse gas emissions) - The burning of coal, natural gas, and oil for electricity and heat is the largest single source of global greenhouse gas emissions. Agriculture (14% of 2004 GHG emissions) - global greenhouse gas emissions) - Greenhouse gas emissions from agriculture mostly come from the management of agricultural soils, livestock, rice production, and biomass burning. Even your one source that makes claims specifically about livestock says that the whole Ag industry is only #3 for GHG contributors. http://www.worldwatch.org/agriculture-and-livestock-remain-major-sources-greenhouse-gas-emissions-0 You have to read carefully... "Livestock contribute to global emissions in other ways as well. Manure deposited and left on pastures is a major source of nitrous oxide emissions because of its high nitrogen content. When more nitrogen is added to soil than is needed, bacteria convert the extra nitrogen into nitrous oxide and release it into the atmosphere. Emissions from manure on pasture in Asia, Africa, and South America together account for as much as 81 percent of global emissions from this source. These emissions from the three regions increased 42 percent on average between 1990 and 2010, reflecting an increase in range-based livestock populations; elsewhere, these emissions either decreased or stagnated." Here is a good read: http://pdf.wri.org/navigating_numbers.pdf "Levels of emissions are highly correlated with levels of energy use, in large part because 61 percent of total GHGs (and almost 75 percent of all CO2) stem from energy-related activities, with the large majority coming from fossil fuel combustion (Figure 8.1). These emissions result from electricity and heat generation, transport, industry, other fuel combustion, and fugitive emissions (for example, from oil and gas extraction)— most of which are examined in detail in Part II of this report. Figure 8.2 shows energy consumption in the top 25 GHG emitting countries, in both absolute and per capita terms. These 25 countries are all within the top 30 energy-consuming countries. Together, this group accounts for 85 percent of global energy consumption, with the 10 largest users accounting for over 70 percent. The United States, EU-25, and China, are the largest consumers at 22, 17, and 11 percent, respectively." I have no problem with your veganism, but the better than thou attitude in which you display it is disgusting. Again, the facts and data show that global energy needs are the biggest issue. Yes, livestock and Ag does greatly contribute to the problem, but world wide veganism isn't going to quench our thirst for energy.
I ate a vegetarian lunch, as I normally do to keep my weight down. But I had it with cheese. I will save the delicious meats for dinner.
In not sure what you think you educated ne on. The world does need other occupations besides farmers. Are you serious? 1 in 3 people don't need to farm anymore times change can't you see that? 100 years ago we didn't have the technology we do now....if they had it 100 years ago things would be the same then as it is now! I'm not sure what your issue is...you have made it clear you despise the livestock industry and that you think everyone should farm but that's all I can get out of your posts...oh and you hate rich people. I don't know enough about the livestock industry to debate you on it but I can explain clearly why not everyone should or is able to farm in this day and age. In fact if we switched to a purely farming based society tomorrow the world would have masssive amount of deaths. You say bacon lovers will do anything to defend thier viewpoint however you seem to be much more into defending your farming ideals. You are unwilling to budge or give a serious and well thought out response to anyone which takes the other viewpoint in consideration. You just regurgitate the same things over and over again regarding this topic. You haven't educated anyone on anything other than that you hate the meat industry, you can't understand why everyone isn't a vegan farmer, and that you think doctors and scientists aren't important. I think the posters on here are open minded and would gladly take any reasonable post by you or anyone seriously and with an open mind. I would like to soak up all the information I can so that I can make better decisions in my future. But what can you say that carries any weight?
I'm done here. I'm the only one in this forum whose vegan and most of rest here are pretty much fukall in regards to what they eat. I feel like I'm wasting precious time responding to the likes of Bubonik and his inability to grasp what I'm saying to Brews insatiable appetite to always prove me wrong. To Brew, I don't think I'm better than anyone else, and I don't put down people who eat meat. I could really give to fuks what you do, my conscious is clean. It's not me urging the planet, but the UN. I'm just passing along the info. If they are wrong so be it. http://www.theguardian.com/environment/2010/jun/02/un-report-meat-free-diet
Archy, this is my problem with vegans. It's either 100% vegan or people are 'fukall'. Polarizing an issue never helps progress.
Seldom I said most not all. I'm not some militant vegan. Like I said people's food choices don't bother me. It's their choice. So I apologize if I seemed to polarize this issue.
Oh yeah Brew, a little advice. I presented reports from top reputable sources such as the FAO. They were the ones claiming the leading cause of numerous issue is due to livestock farming and the agriculture and industrial associated with it. Since you find nothing in their reports I think you underestimate your ability as a scientist if you can debunk a panel of UN scientists. I mean that Mishiu Kaki levels stuff there.
Archy, I am able to grasp.....you just haven't made much sense..... .....we should all farm and we don't need doctors?????? You just haven't made enough sense for anyone to grasp anything from what you have written. And Archy, people are always going to challenge you throughout life, it is how you react when challenged that shows what you are made of. Everyone gets challenged all the time in life.
