"to do one thing today and another tomorrow, to hunt in the morning, fish in the afternoon, rear cattle in the evening, criticise after dinner, just as I have a mind, without ever becoming hunter, fisherman, herdsman or critic"

this thread is hot mess but both sides have some validpoitns and to answer with my 2 cents

    farming yes,

and how about farming with Dr.s Dr.s that mix eastern (acupuncture, reiki, herbs etc) and western (surgery, antiseptic technique etc)

more people farming would improve national security by not relying on supply chains that are subject to whims of oil price

think about the coast of food at 8$ gallon gas, which is still less than the price other countries pay

the conveyer belts (semis and hiways) that bring food to your store are subject to disruption
and that food is sub par frozen processed gmo pesticide treated pseudofood with yoga mat bits and rapeseed oil (not fit for human consumption

growing your own food is good for many many reasons

I make plenty of sense and yes you are unable to grasp what I'm saying.

Where in the heck did I say we don't need doctors?

To break it down for you in simple terms I said and I repeat myself, " we don't need more ER doctors because most ER patients come in for things that are unnecessary or issues that are totally preventable by adopting a healthy lifestyle. Look up the CDC stats for yourself. Accidental injuries account for less than 35% of ER visits.

Do you understand now? Golly Jeez??!!!

And yes as MIS pointed out we need more farmers.

Yeah, I didn't intend for this thread to go where it's gone.

I just wanted you folks to contemplate what your eating, how it gets to your plate, and if your making heathy, sustainable choices. Whether you do or not, of coarse, is entirely up to you. Then someone mentioned science and Brew came busting in with his peer reviewed scientific research spiel. I am not anti peer reviewed scientific research btw. I am, however, against putting my life and lifestyle entirely in the hands of scientists and government officials whom I've never met. I prefer to asses the information sources around me and decide for myself, but obviously, that's just me. The gmo thing: If I consume a tiny diluted (diluted, now that's a fancy word boy, golly!) dose of a particular toxic poison 4-5 times a week, let's say through leafy greens, for 10, 15, or maybe 20 years, I believe it may accumulate in my body, causing repercussions. These potential repercussions may prove to be costly to my health, life, offsprings life, and wallet. I'd rather spend the money up front on safer to consume foods, then roll the dice with a scientist who may have one of the mega food corporations in their pocket. This is indeed my opinion and I have no links to peer reviewed scientific research to back that up. You're more then welcome to think my logic is stupid, after all, you're entitled to your opinion as well.

If a sentence doesn't start with your name, I may not be directly addressing you.
If I say something like "nuttier then squirrel sh!t" I may be joking.
I don't know where you cats get all this time to burn on this forum.

In a nutshell (that I picked out of a squirrel turd with my tongue):
Stay healthy for as long as possible, so you can enjoy your life more completely, and the fruits of the ocean for longer. Health is wealth, and that's what matters most!

I don't know man, I'm pretty sure a healthy diet of TV dinners, McDonalds, and Coca Cola is all any human needs.

I was addressing your specific claim that Ag and livestock make up the largest contribution to greenhouse gas. It is bullsh1t and cannot be found in anything you posted. I am not denying that it pollutes the land. You are trying to make your veganism sound better than it is, while you are still a big part of the overall problem. Energy is our #1 problem. Farming methods and livestock are still #3. You are letting your emotions get to you. Go back and clearly read what I wrote. We are talking about GHG specifically here. Let's stick to one topic. I posted reports from "top scientists" and even directly quoted where they talk about contributions to GHG.

Archy, your argument is erratic at best.

I could just say the same to your inability to "grasp" some of my points, but where would that get us?

Obviously yes you are in the minority here and in society with your viewpoints and lifestyle and I said yesterday that I respect that you stand for something. I am not against farming or veganism I engaged with you with the hope that you could teach me somethings I didn't know.

I honestly recommend you do some research into logical thought processes and learning what is and what isn't a fact as well as how to support facts.

Here is some biblical food for thought......

3 Everything that lives and moves about will be food for you. Just as I gave you the green plants, I now give you everything.~Genesis 9:3

    I prefer:

Therefore I say unto you, Take no thought for your life, what ye shall eat, or what ye shall drink; nor yet for your body, what ye shall put on. Is not the life more than meat, and the body than raiment? Behold the fowls of the air: for they sow not, neither do they reap, nor gather into barns; yet your heavenly Father feedeth them. Are ye not much better than they?

Ok MIS, well I will say this.

Archys point is that we do not need more doctors because a lot of the cases are related to not having "healthy lifestyle"

    1. For clarification please explain what "healthy lifestyle" is in great detail

    2. Explain how we would not need more doctors in the future and how we would be better off having those people as organic farmers instead.

    3. If the entire world went vegan wouldn't there be a HUGE amount of medical cases relation to a sudden shift in the human diet? How would we survive that without even MORE doctors and LESS farmers?

Therefore I tell you, do not worry about your life, what you will eat or drink; or about your body, what you will wear. Is not life more important than food, and the body more important than clothes?" ~Matthew 6:36

May be easier for the SI LINE-UP to understand

"Do not work for food that spoils, but for food that endures to eternal life, which the Son of Man will give you. On him God the Father has placed his seal of approval." ~Matthew 6:27

Just so I am not a cherry picker....

    Addressing the above....

    It makes no sense.

You can't say we don't need more doctors because most of the cases are preventable. That's like saying we don't need more mechanics because most accidents are preventable.

The reality is if you have a broken car or a sick human they need someone qualified to provide care to them regardless of how they got to that point.

All of this doctor discussion just goes back to my point that we are no longer a society based on having the masses farm in America. Which I stand behind. I am not saying it is whats best or whats wrong with society I am simply arguing that it is the truth.
