Agreed. But then you snipe at us by saying "my conscious is clean" and taking a holier than thou attitude.
Dude you are just dumb. How does not needing MORE unessessary ER doctors than is truly needed equate to no doctors at all? Yeah technology is really advancing us as a human race. You're an artard.
I was enjoying our conversation. I tried to be considerate of your viewpoint and went to lengths to explain my point of view and stated twice that I respect you and your situation in the argument. PS. It doesn't help anything or anyone to call people names. How old are you anyway? What do you do for a living?
I know that's what you are talking about, and why 99% of vegans come off as douche rockets. Fuk Karma cause it can't fuk you!
pretty sure that's how the Africans started off the ebola mess,by eating things that move in the bush, like monkeys.il take my monkey medium rare please
anybody know of any bible recycling center, wayne???can i send u my 30 bibles people gave me over the years.i threw a few away, but my garbage cant keep up.i only have 1 bible i keep for looks, its a wooden bible.im sure wayne would have an orgasm if he seen it,maybe il post u up a pic of it,found it on the streets like 30 years ago.
karma is a basic universal law so there is no escaping it. for every action there is an equal oposite reaction. many great thinkers address this in regards to eating animals such as Aristotle, Plato, Socraties to DaVinci, Newton, and Einstien.
Bubonik my sincerest apologies. i.m self employed as a craftsman in the contruction field. mainly tile, stone, and mosaics. i dont sit in front of a computer all day at my job (i'm doing this on the phone) so the back and forth all day gets annoying. to put my point into better context i will start with life before the industrial revolution. people generally work and lived a farming lifestyle or in a farming community. the majority of people were physcally active and ate locally grown and raised food free from chemicals and preservatives. people were generally prettty healthy and disease rates (cancer, heart disease, diabetes) were low. this is still seen in the rural parts of the world. fast forward to present day Western society. technology has advanced to the point where the majority of people dont work the land anymore for a living. and with the growing banking sector the majority of wealth has gone to few. people work now for money to pay for food as well as other basic needs. the majority usually work less physically active jobs. also technology has given us televisions, computers and smartphones, keeping the majority glued to them and even more sedatentary. the mass move from the farm to the suburb and city has now left the responsibility of the food supply to these major corpoations. most jobs pay enough for basic needs. so the majority through Western culture value material goods such as flatscreen TVs, cars, clothes, etc more and more and food quality is no longer a priority because of materialism or ignorance. now these large corporations that control the food offer mainly stuff that cant really be considered food. most of it in boxes and cans loaded with chemicals. also these major food corporations with the help of government subsidies offer this so-called food at lower prices. so after the majority pay for rent, car, luxury items, etc. opt to purchace McYogaMats with cheese and soda and boxes of processed junk all because its fast easy and cheap. no longer are there numerous local farms that can feed communities with fresh healthy food at affordable prices. people would rather spend $10 bucks for 2 large Dominoes pizzas and $2.50 for a twelve pack of Mountian Doo than more for something healthy. so now that we have a society reliant on technology we also have less active people with a huge rate of disease (cancer, heart disease, diabetes, etc). now we need more doctors because of our sededatary, big agra, big corp reliant, junk food eating majority. if we got back to nature and started providing food from local farms there would be less disease. a more local community based way of business would mean no longer relying on big agra and big business for our basic needs. it doesnt mean we have to go back to the stone age. we have the technology to live comfortably without relying on mega corps without a giant enviornmental footprint. hope that explains it.
Yes. I can't argue with much of what you wrote and I agree with you on almost everything you wrote. I don't have data to back it up but I'm pretty sure life expectancy is longer now due to technology and research. Again I agree with your analysis here. Unfortunately changing society is a hard thing to do....even harder to change the parts of it that people profit off of. Technology giveth technology taketh away
ok Brewdude my claim about GHGs was not correct and i jumped the gun trying to make a point. this is due to me trying to eveluate the issue from a smartphone while at work. i dont have a desk job and access to a computer like the majority of SI bloggers and i dont really care and am reluctant to do so at home on my free time. the point i'm trying to make is livestock farming and fishing, or basicallly eating meat at the current rate of consumption, is the leading cause for the accelerated destruction of life on Earth as we know it. if you factor in not only GHGs but land use, water use, subsequent pollution of land and water, and commercial fishing, the UN report urging people to adopt a plant based diet for the future well being of the planet is pretty spot on. Land required to feed 1 person for 1 year: vegan: 1/6th acre Vegetarian: 3x as much as a vegan Meat Eater: 18x as much as a vegan 1.5 acres can produce 37,000 pounds of plant-based food. 1.5 acres can produce 375 pounds of meat. A person who follows a vegan diet uses 50% less carbon dioxide, 1/11th oil, 1/13th water, and 1/18th land compared to a meat-eater. The leading causes of rainforest destruction are livestock and feedcrops. http://www.fao.org/ag/magazine/0612sp1.htm 110 plant, animal and insect species are lost every day due to rainforest destruction. Nearly half of the contiguous US is devoted to animal agriculture. [xiii] 30% of the Earth’s entire land surface is used by the livestock sector. http://www.ers.usda.gov/publications/sb-statistical-bulletin/sb-973.aspx#.VAoXcl7E8dt 1/3 of the planet is desertified due to livestock. http://www.un.org/apps/news/story.asp?NewsID=17076#.VAodM17E8ds One hamburger requires 660 gallons of water to produce – the equivalent of 2 months’ worth of showers. 2,500 gallons of water are needed to produce 1 pound of beef. 477 gallons of water are required to produce 1 pound of eggs; 900 gallons of water are needed for 1 pound of cheese. 1,000 gallons of water are required to produce 1 gallon of milk. 5% of water in the US is used by private homes. 55% of water in the US is used for animal agriculture. For every 1 pound of fish caught, an average of 5 pounds of unintended marine species are caught and discarded as by-kill. http://www.fao.org/docrep/W6602E/w6602E09.htm As many as 40% (63 billion pounds) of fish caught globally every year are discarded. http://www.theguardian.com/environment/2014/mar/20/americas-nine-most-wasteful-fisheries-named Scientists estimate as many as 650,000 whales, dolphins and seals are killed every year by fishing vessels. http://www.theguardian.com/environment/2014/mar/20/americas-nine-most-wasteful-fisheries-named 130 times more animal waste than human waste is produced in the US – 1.4 billion tons from the meat industry annually. 5 tons of animal waste is produced for every person. http://www.gao.gov/archive/1999/rc99205.pdf Throughout the world, humans drink 5.2 billion gallons of water and eat 21 billion pounds of food each day. Based on rough averages of 0.75 gallons of water and 3 lbs of food per day. Worldwide, cows drink 45 billion gallons of water and eat 135 billion pounds of food each day. Based on rough average of 30 gallons of water and 90 lbs of feed per day. Each day, a person who eats a vegan diet saves 1,100 gallons of water, 45 pounds of grain, 30 sq ft of forested land, 20 lbs CO2 equivalent, and one animal’s life. http://www.waterfootprint.org http://www.scientificamerican.com/article/earth-talks-daily-destruction/ http://link.springer.com/article/10.1007/s10584-014-1169-1/fulltext.html http://static.ewg.org/reports/2011/...t_eaters_guide_to_health_and_climate_2011.pdf
life expectancy has increased due to the advancement in emergency medicine. not by the way we live. doctors can keep diseased people alive longer but mostly fail at curing them of disease.
archy, in no way am I trying to act like a smarta**, but what about bugs? I keep hearing all this stuff about how bugs are the next big thing and how they already have a small but strong following in our western world. I'm just wondering.
So are you saying that if I eat a cow I will be eaten by a cow later? Or will I be reincarnated as a cow and then eaten? Or if it's an equal and opposite reaction if I eat a whole steak will I sh!t a pile of salad? Karma is more of a reap what you sow thing. What you referenced is Newton's Third Law of Motion which relates to motions and interactions of objects that are real and not to mystical BS about the universe getting revenge for eating a burger. Eat Animals Because They Are Tasty!
as above so below- Hermes Trismestigus motions and interactions of objects, the transfer of energy, cause and effect, you reap what you sow. its all relative. "For as long as men massacre animals, they will kill each other. Indeed, he who sows the seed of murder and pain cannot reap joy and love." - Pythagoras "As long as there are slaughterhouses, there will be battlefields." - Leo Tolstoy "The greatness of a nation and its moral progress can be judged by the way its animals are treated." - Gandhi Ganhi's quote kinda explains the moral degradation of western culture over the years with its increase of meat consumption over the years. we are not on this Earth but part of it just as much as it is part of us. I will go no further on this with you because I can see you lack the insight to know that all things are connected and think my thought process is just some spiritual woo woo crap.
