Tail Pad installation Getting the 5'10 HP ready as I've shott OH+ in that several times. But trew on a new tail pad this morning that just came in the mail as the other one was flapping off and affecting rides. The directions say to give the adhesive 24 hours to cure (just the 3M backing, nothing else) before hitting water. I'm able to still peel it back off with ease. Don't want to buy a new pad but do want to paddle out with this stick today. Thoughts on if it will hold?
shoulda cleaned the old adhesive off with adhesive remover then acetone roll over new pad with a rolling pin to apply pressure while on the board or something if it does not hold, go buy 3m super 77 to re apply
What a ****ing kook this guy is Dude you're charging overhead surf and don't even know how to install a tail pad. Get the **** outta here you kook.
hahaha thats ^ pretty funny! But emass yeah you kinda f'd up on that one. Shoulda cleaned it better sounds like. I personally never wait the 24 hours as directed. But I put the pad on before wax or anything else touches it. It also helps to gently rough up the glass job a bit with some high grit sand paper. But thats brand new boards, anything used is (in my opinion) a waste to put new pads on.
Tail pad no doubt. I like that better anyway. I say stomp pad sometimes as it's what a lot of cats call it. Maybe we put it in the SI Glossary to purify popular vernacular. Changed the tread title and OP so you braddahs can breathe ez lol I did in fact scrape the deck down to the bone and cleaned with isopropyl alcohol as that's all there was since I piss through acetone cleaning the Carver C7. New tail pad was dope today!
Here we go again . It's the kook who watched north shore and fast times way to much. Stomp pad?!? Cats?dope?! Like mike 808 said if you don't know how to take off and reinstall a pad you shouldn't be out in anything over 2 feet . Leave the big stuff to the big boys .
CDsurf you know who the d-bags are? People who live a lie of a life. People who can barely paddle much less surf and brag about charging big surf when they can't even get past the break.
lmao hate to say it but he makes a point, honestly i think pads are for women and i dont use them. you are just as gay for using them yourself but i do know how.
umm i didn't say that. people f up pads all the time. we have a running joke with my boys about the "benji weatherly 18 piece pad" goin on crooked....sh!t happens. Go eat another burger.
So much has changed since the 70s. Can't imagine ever using a pad, but I don't bust outer space MegaroidSkittle airs either. Don't fault ya if ya use one. Just not for me. It's all good. Has anyone worked on this from another angle? What about perfecting the soles of booties (or water shoes for summer) so you don't slip? Seems better than sandpaper glued to my board. Sticky feets.
