I might be missing something..... but a lighthouse on my board is not necessary. I usually know where I'm going. Usually.
A tinfoil helmet with a strapped on headlight usually works for me if the full moon isn't shining. Sometimes though, it attracts sharks. Have a great weekend... I'm out!
$500 (I got mine for $350) Gopro Hero 4 4k/30fps. 1080/120fps 12MP photo Shutter photo (great for barrel shots) Amazing customer support Great first and third party accessories 149 degree viewing angle to show everything that you will be doing. Sold out since it's release (2 months) $500 V360- can take video of not only you surfing, but your face while you surf. Nobody knows what it is V360 is definitely the money maker here.
it looks like it would definitely stay attached to the board in big surf. You know, the surf you would want to take video in.
Hero 4 hasn't been sold out since its release. We've got em at Rei, about 10 silvers that get replenished every few days and 4 Blacks that I talk people out of buying cause 4k at 30 fps isn't for the common man with the common computer or common tv. That being said go pro is on their marketing game, and strategically they are making pov cameras for professionals. This v360 missed the boat 5 years ago when the contour failed against go pro. The garmin virb is interesting, and Sony gives them a run for the money (quality wise). Looking forward to the future of videography
True dat. For a guy that lived in the high desert in a van, he's got a good handle on the tech scene.
Ok I meant sold out on the Gopro website. And also, 4k at 30 fps isnt really that high professional quality, it's just small and extremely powerful for its size. If you try to use slo-mo at 30 fps you will see that the people who do things like barrel shots or filming surfing as their daytime job will use a camera more powerful. Still, gopro is the best for 99% of athletes and dare-devils.
you have to admit, shooting video in 360 degrees is pretty freaken cool. Water footage is all about perspective, and 360 gives you every perspective. If they could package it smaller, like goPro size, it would be rad.
Th idea is cool. But I looked at the video's they show as examples, and the result isn't as cool as the idea itself. Then, add the fact that r2d2 has to surf with you.... I'm just not turned on. When that thing gets ripped off the board and takes a chunk with it.... now your out the $400 for the robot... and a super expensive board repair.
