The three-headed monster of billm, Hunter T. and ORourke. I'm not one for the archy-type forensics, however, I stumbled across the fact that all 3 of those accounts have been around for several months and posted nothing or just a few posts, as well as all 3 having a most recent login of December 4th at 7:14pm. No way that's a coincidence. The billm handle has basically looked at everyone's profile very recently. That triad may stand on its own or be part of the serial Sweller identities that pervade the forum as trolls. Or it could be one cat with 36 different handles. Don't you want to know who's lurking in the dunes at your break??
BTP I used to think you may be a serial account holder but you post too damn much to spend time behind other names. There's a few of us cats that you can be sure we are logged in under a single account but some of these others could be anyone lol
Lol bro it was not trolling them. I don't have time to troll people. I was looking up a few certain funny posts from recent weeks by going on a few reputable Swellers' profiles to find post lists. Then noticed the same names on their recent visitors and realized I'd never seen posts from these people ever. Looked at their profiles and saw the same last login. Profiles show only the last 10 visitors so it was all pointing in same direction. All pretty simple really and definitely creepy.
Nice work 007. Or should I say, Spicoli, Emass Spicoli. (You have to say the last part with a British accent)
...and figure out how to surf the tide in Venice. Is it possible? Not for me, but then again I'm no British intelligence agent.
OK..naivety here...can someone explain what a troll is exactly, what "trolling" is, and why it's detrimental? I don't frequent forums, this is the first one I've really participated in and I see the term all the time. I assume it's someone that "lurks" but I've seen the term used to describe several different things and activities.
troll1 trōl/Submit noun a mythical, cave-dwelling being depicted in folklore as either a giant or a dwarf, typically having a very ugly appearance. synonyms: goblin, hobgoblin, gnome, halfling, demon, monster, bugaboo, ogre "the storybook trolls who live under the bridge" This definition, in a sense, is, aside from definition, also and example, within itself, and as itself ...whooaa
I feel under appreciated bro, you may be trolling, subconsciously....whoooaaa sub-trolling ... This is a really good morning for me, don't f*** it up man
I too did not understand that, correct me if im wrong but I believe it is when one is trying to cause trouble or talk smack in order to get a rise out of others. Its usually done by non regulars or people with few posts and such and all they do is cause trouble they never really put worthwhile material in.
I've always wondered about those names...the trifecta mentioned by Emass...bc their names are always in that little viewed profile thingy...if they were mods I think someone would know... Say, are you about a size 14?
From wikipedia: In Internet slang, a troll (/ˈtroʊl/, /ˈtrɒl/) is a person who sows discord on the Internet by starting arguments or upsetting people,[1] by posting inflammatory,[2] extraneous, or off-topic messages in an online community (such as a newsgroup, forum, chat room, or blog) with the deliberate intent of provoking readers into an emotional response[3] or of otherwise disrupting normal on-topic discussion.[4]
