I hear the keys south of Cuba are one of the most amazing places in the world. Their coral reef system and oceanic life are basically untouched. Some Italian company is the only one who has the rights to guide fishing down there, and the prices are such that you'd be fishing with Bill Gates.
Sailed there a decade ago from the Bahamas. Great fishing, there is a big drop off along the north coast I hooked up a lot. Did not see any surf, but I turned north at Havana. Western Cuba has potential with its Northern fetch from the Gulf. Ask Cory Lopez.
There is lots of excitement here in South Florida among the fishing/diving/sailing folks. I have heard for the last 10 years big $ is lined up in the Florida Keys waiting to take advantage of the opportunities for new marinas, etc
not calling you a purveyor of untruths. just that the apparent period of that swell STRONGLY suggests its elsewhere.
I can appreciate that it's a tough decision to normalize relations with a police state whose police forces routinely murder civilians (and whose top political leaders have engaged in torture of prisoners with impunity), but Cuba did the right thing.
