Agreed, no doubt he would be even better if he got in shape, BUT i'm sure he is happy with all the waves he rode in his lifetime and could care less about getting in shape. Most do it out of necessity just to be able to ride a wave in the first place, he never had that problem, whether it's because of perfect waves or not, I think it's pretty cool.

I am willing to bet that he would surf Folly Beach or any BB on the East Coast for that matter just fine, probably school some of us on here (probably me included, who knows). Perfect waves or not, they aren't easy to surf, still takes skill. I think a lot of people see perfect waves and think "I would shred that wave" but when faced with it they find out it's not as easy as it looks.

 

No way he'd be able to surf a thigh high wave as fat as he is. He already surfs a massive board and the vid we all know shows him in OH stand up barrels. He's a stellar athlete for his weight class no doubt but he wouldn't function outside of pristine, powerful conditions.

As a fat surfer I can assure you that his performance would suffer in waves that lack the push needed to get all that mass moving towards the beach.

Believe it or not, that was my first day surfing. I got out early and found a little spot all to myself. I spent about two hours paddling and missing waves or pearling. I got out and rested up for a minute and looked up in time so see these girls walking over the dune. The redhead on the right was the first I saw and she had PL on her sash and I immediately thought they were playboy babes. They were really Ms. Teen SC and Ms. SC contestants and the PL I saw was Ms. Mt. Pleasant. They were doing a photoshoot and I stayed for the show. They asked if they could get a pic with me and I was happy to oblige. One asked me how long I'd been surfing and I coolly responded "A couple hours or so".
