So i hate to complain about a free service, but I live in wb, nc and the report is virtually never even close to right. Today it is saying 2-4 ft and its knee high. Virtually every single time you guys say there are going to be waves, there are none or its less than half the size. Something has to be wrong in the formula you guys are using. It used to not be so off. It would be nice if the report was more conservative instead of overcalling it, hyping it up, crowding the lineup, and disappointing everyone when they wake up in the morning. that said, thanks for the other stuff. I definitely use it but you guys have me and everyone else scratching our heads more times than not.

either way, you guys have some tweaking to do on the inputs you use to forecast. keep at it.
wrightsville just blows. I guarantee I know a few spots around you that probably are pretty good with the conditions its giving right now however...
SI is always on. Learn from your mistakes. WB was terrible surf when I visited during a hurricane a few years ago. Maybe that's it?
I have come to the mathematical conclusion that, for reporting present day swell, they are ok 75% of the time; 2 days out or better, 50% of the time. No better than flipping a coin. But, that is the same with NOAA. As for hyping it, that is how they earn their money, i.e., delivering you to advertisers. I am sure they would love to be more accurate, but weather forecasting does not have the ability to do so with present technology. But forecasting is a far cry better than 20 years ago!! just opinion.
If surfing was a tony hawks underground era videogame, wrightsville beach would be the first crappy level of it. Infested with kooks, terrible waves, huge crowds in the summer, very few solid surfable days and many knee to waist high mushburger days. nevertheless, a great place to learn how to surf or longboard, and there are many solid surf breaks within a twenty minute drive, paddle or boat ride to keep the stoak levels bearable. Many shredders there as well, and some pretty sweet homies. Glad i did my four years there, glad I left. I just wouldn't complain about the forecasting sight being "off" for a beach such as that, I would complain about the beach being "off" when the surf forcasting sight is spot on for actual other surf spots in the area.
Hey man. Do it better. Weather predictin is dicey at best. Hell, look at the TV Weather people. They get it wrong lots. Just show Mee Maw at the County Fair, or have a cute kid read the forecast ever so often, and it's all good. Don't come in here hatin on Mr. Swellinfo Guy now, ya hear?
That statement is actually false. If I am thinking about the same spots, the direction and size at wb is not enough to make anywhere you are referring to 2-4ft. I love this site and it typically gives a pretty good prediction of what's to come, but lately it has been off. Not sure why, but it is definitely different than it was a couple of months ago. It seems as if there is a streak of it being spot on, then a streak of it completely being wrong. It is a free service and it definitely helps me out more often than not so I am not complaining. Just use the little tab on the side to give a spot on forecast of what it is really like so they can better predict next time! Thats why that tab is there.
when swellinfo calls it 4 ft and its less than 1ft...does anyone care? Is there any quality control going on to compare the forecast to the actual report. What i am suggesting is there needs to be some tweaks in swellinfo's formula for certain breaks based on there angle, etc. A one size fits all approach isn't likely what is being used so I am bringing attention to the fact that some of those inputs need to be tweaked. whether wb, surrounding spots, or any spot for that matter is good or bad isn't relevant. It's whether the forecast rings true at least most of the time. I definitely wouldn't complain if you guys were consistently undercalling it. its the hype and following disappointment that is frustrating
Im not just talking about mase theres a couple other spots (at least 3) that would handle that e-ne swell at 5 seconds relatively ok and would probably be pretty damn fun (maybe even some lil tubes) with that alternating 2ft at 11 second e swell especially considering the lightish winds. Definitively at least worth a drive to check and see. It was on when I was there last months with similar conditions. Hey thats just my opinion though. Happy hunting!
Now lookee here Wubba Wubba Wubba. You ain't from around here, is ya? You some kinda foreign spy or somethin? Tryin to gin up support fer some compeetin forecastin site? We don't like yer kind 'round these parts, so just hitch up yer wagon and git on back to wherever the cat drug you in from.
It is a forecast. We live in an age where we are totally spoiled. Swellinfo is by far the best forecast and the easiest to read for me. When you see a bump check the cams and check the surf. Its on you not the forecast to get good waves.
swell info is hit or miss for wb i agree but like everyone said wb is the crappiest break in NC and it gets too much hype
lol ibc. well i think my suggestions were completely lost on everyone. dear swellinfo, you used to not be so off. ill retreat back to the tried and true method of walking out to the ocean and checking it A rebuttal by the swellinfo people themselves would be nice as well as confirmation they are trying to improve!! until then, im out you probably wont see me here on the forum again.
dude it's the WBizzle.... my homie that's from there is always talking about how SI just doesn't know what to do with the wind forecast down there... there's just too many angles of different beaches to give ONE forecast. You can drive to 3 dramatically different facing beaches in one hour. So you can't expect them to nail it dude. wblivesurf.com it looks fun as sheet right now!!!! and it's not even really cold water there aghhghahgh stop yer b!tching!!!
